Dave Pinch Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Oh Mick Smith? He's in Spain at the moment but got a feeling he did a trade on that George Lemons. is this any better pete
Bigsoulman Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Dreadful record, always reminds me of The Black And White Minstrels on the BBC
Benji Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I like it lots. Fantastic record. That should balance out BIGSOULMANs post 1
Pete S Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 is this any better pete No not really Dave. I just think it's one of those you either love or hate.
Dave Pinch Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 yes one of my faves also....cant see whats not to like about it when there is some really poor records out there
Chalky Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 He isn't the greatest singer by any means but there are far worse records out there than this. It ALWAYS sells and for good money. It ALWAYS rams the dance floor at any venue. Good luck in finding one. 3
Pete S Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 yes one of my faves also....cant see whats not to like about it when there is some really poor records out there Well he can't sing in tune and the musicians can't play in tune and the lyrics are crap but apart from that... 3
Dave Pinch Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 his voice sound ok to me pete..rather have george`s than say wayne cochrans.. each to his own buddy
Pete S Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 his voice sound ok to me pete..rather have george`s than say wayne cochrans.. each to his own buddy Don't compare it with Wayne Cochran Dave, that's a really cheap shot, I said I liked this one record the guy made, not that I thought he was the world's greatest singer, which he evidently isn't.

I doubt many that like George Lemons think he is the world's greatest singer either, I certainly don't. To many Wayne Cochran is sh*t and a far worse record than George Lemons, each to their own as they say.

Premium Stuff Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 This is why people should lock their 'wants' and 'sales' threads 1
Frankie Crocker Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Hope you are able to locate a copy. It is a truly fascinating record. Ownership of it helps to appreciate flawed talent and develop a healthier respect for the artists of the sixties who struggled to cut a track in the face of numerous constraints. My hands tremble when I put it on the turntable and the listening experience is as good as it gets on the rare occasion when played. My copy came in what can best be described as a 'companified' sleeve that has been customised by a home made John Bull type rubber stamp giving company details including a Detroit phone number - the record within the sleeve takes on holy relic status and would possibly defy the descriptive skills of John Manship if he had the record and 'birth sleeve' up for auction. In the meantime, play the CD or be lucky enough to catch it whilst out on the floor... 3
