Court Davis on East Coast

What about this one - same finishing date and it is already at £1,015 with just under 3 weeks to go

Agree. It's a  great record - it has that hard to put your finger on something very special.

Mine was the previous one auctioned, Ted.. Wouldn't know if this is the same copy or not - mine sold for around the £2.3k mark, from memory, somewhere around 3 years ago?

Pretty sure this is a different one.

Sold a Court Davis on here exactly two years ago, £1750, 2nd copy I had for sale. I was also recently offered a rouser copy for $3750 I declined given the recent copies on JM & Tim Brown auctions as well as the eBay ones.

Still two rare 45s be interesting to see the finishing price this time, although speaking to many collectors the FB has defo lost some of its kudos.

Pretty sure that copies of Court Davis turned up in "the big find" a few years ago. JM could still be "dripping them out" along with all the others. I must say that he's done a great service to collectors in the way he has slipped the 45's out very carefully. If they had all come onto the market at once they would be worth peanuts by now. Look what happened to Jackie Day.

why is keeping prices expensive is doing a great service to collectors? I understand why a dealer would want to do it.

May be wrong but I can't remember a Court Davis on manship auction over the last few years so don't believe he is as you put it 'dripping them out'.

A friend of mine here in ol' Denmark's brother in the states found the current auction copy of the Court Davis record. I believe in Boston? Can't remember where exactly, but I know it was found on a dig for a jaw-droppingly lower price than its going for now. He's a rockabilly collector and had no interest in it, so he passed it on to JM. Or thats what I was told, at least!  :)
