Ficklefingers Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Mine was the previous one auctioned, Ted.. Wouldn't know if this is the same copy or not - mine sold for around the £2.3k mark, from memory, somewhere around 3 years ago? 1

Chalky Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 There was at least two FB's sold last year on eBay for around $4k. There was at least one on here, Pottsy I think sold one..
Chalky Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Yes, you're right. Back on topic. I'll stick with me Fairmount copy. Sounds the same and is the original after all The Rouser copy is edited isn't it.... 2
bri pinch Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 think it is, Chalky...misses most of the sax break, which is one of the highlights of the record
tosspot Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 i've played court davis out a couple of times, i love it , i may play it at pure soul tomorrow
Samplat Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Sold Court Davis just before xmas. A great copy with hardly any pimples. £1650 if my memory serves me correctly
Guest chorleybloke Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Mine was the previous one auctioned, Ted.. Wouldn't know if this is the same copy or not - mine sold for around the £2.3k mark, from memory, somewhere around 3 years ago? Pretty sure this is a different one.
Trev Thomas Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 this is the third time j.m. has had a rouser copy on his auction in 3 years....has he found a box full ??? 1
Raresoul45s Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Sold a Court Davis on here exactly two years ago, £1750, 2nd copy I had for sale. I was also recently offered a rouser copy for $3750 I declined given the recent copies on JM & Tim Brown auctions as well as the eBay ones. Still two rare 45s be interesting to see the finishing price this time, although speaking to many collectors the FB has defo lost some of its kudos. Darren
Quinvy Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Pretty sure that copies of Court Davis turned up in "the big find" a few years ago. JM could still be "dripping them out" along with all the others. I must say that he's done a great service to collectors in the way he has slipped the 45's out very carefully. If they had all come onto the market at once they would be worth peanuts by now. Look what happened to Jackie Day.

John A Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 why is keeping prices expensive is doing a great service to collectors? I understand why a dealer would want to do it. only to the ones who already own it! 1
Ted Massey Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Ive had the Fairmount one since 1988 still think its tough one to get good dance floor reaction. b side is the best side imo 2
Dave Pinch Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 totally agree ted.... BOMH is a little too fast.. very rare i play it out and usually i play the flip 1

May be wrong but I can't remember a Court Davis on manship auction over the last few years so don't believe he is as you put it 'dripping them out'. Edited May 4, 2013 by Des Crombie
Wiganer1 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 One of my Top 3 of all time. I'll never sell this one court davis - what a tune ,,,,one of richards best,,,,,
Dave Pinch Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 May be wrong but I can't remember a Court Davis on manship auction over the last few years so don't believe he is as you put it 'dripping them out'. john did have a few in that big LA find not many tho and that find must be 8 or 10 years ago by now.... now jackie day. they must have been a few more of those
Dave Pinch Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 john ended up with just one copy of court davis from that find it seems and a handful of jackie days some of the other guys had a few jackies each also
Andreas B Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 A friend of mine here in ol' Denmark's brother in the states found the current auction copy of the Court Davis record. I believe in Boston? Can't remember where exactly, but I know it was found on a dig for a jaw-droppingly lower price than its going for now. He's a rockabilly collector and had no interest in it, so he passed it on to JM. Or thats what I was told, at least!
John Parker Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Played Court Davis out at York Soul Club last night...sounded AWESOME
Pete S Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Mentioned this before but I got my first one of a UK pop list where it was described as a "Gene Pitney soundalike" Got the high bid, £400.
Harry Crosby Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 So shall we start a thread about Court Davis then?????? Cheers for the info folks 1
