Shsdave Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 maybe I should know, but I dont ..... Tyrone Davis................Just my way of loving you Betty Everett.................Love comes tumbling down Joe Simon.....................The girls alright with me Roy Hamilton.................She's got a heart Thanks in advance Dave I've played Joe simon a few times over the years, same with Roy Hamilton actually played it friday at Solid Hit. Think any record cheap or otherwise would have been played somewhere at some time ...........unless you're asking if they were a "big" play
Mal C Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) remember I went through thousands of 45's in a record shop in western Australia some years back, and the only track I found was Tyrone Davis................Just my way of loving you, nice as well still in its orig sleeve, date stamped demo...... allot of work for one very nice 45... may have been an early doors track though, must have been at some point. Amsterdam Russ Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Roy Hamilton used to get played out a lot, including at the 100 Club, I'm sure. Mind you, that would have been something like 25-30 years ago.
Dave West Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Thanks to those who replied, personally i think they all have some mileage in the right room. Dave
georgeblackwell Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I have played the Joe Simon many times over the years and surprisingly not many seem to know it. I always get asked "what was that". Great track though and fairly unique in that there is only one verse which is just repeated to seem like two verses. I guess messrs Orange and Wilson just ran out of ideas!!
Nickinstoke Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 maybe I should know, but I dont ..... Tyrone Davis................Just my way of loving you Betty Everett.................Love comes tumbling down Joe Simon.....................The girls alright with me Roy Hamilton.................She's got a heart Thanks in advance Dave Joe Simon was an old Twisted Wheel play back in the 60s, along with his version of "No sad song" 1
Jez Jones Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Joe Simon was an old Twisted Wheel play back in the 60s, along with his version of "No sad song" ..glad you confirmed that Nick......was ALMOST positive it got a few spins at Hose St..but couldn't be 100%...........so many records ...so little time lol
Sjclement Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Long time ago when I knew very little about soul I bought Joe Simon (on UK Monument) thinking it was the same as the Temptations!
