Paulb Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Is it me or do the niters in the north seem to be medium - large capacity venues. Two of my fav venues are sadly no more - Goldbourne and Sheridans, which were both on the smaller side but with cracking atmosphere's and a nice dark setting. Dont get me wrong, I love big venues, but there's something about these smaller more intimate nights that I really love. Does anyone know of any similar venues knocking about?

If you like smaller venues, maybe try the lifeline at the fox, quite an intimate little venue.
Guest Matt Male Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 ========== Yep would agree with this, nice venue, does have a tendency to get rather warm though Winnie:-) Agree with this, surprisingly the dancefloor is the coolest place with the upstairs absolutely steaming.
Guest Soultown andy Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Very difficult to balance the books at small niters,if you want quality djs good advertiseing door staff etc that costs, and if you are liimited to the numbers through the door makes it hard work.We are running steam next year which has 3 smaller more intimate rooms have put the dates up in the event calendar.

I understand what you are saying.... I thought that the last Lifeline (my first) was a fantastic 'nighter but with limited numbers possible, how does it pay....or even break even?
Mace Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 (edited) Paul, you should check out BIDDS Allnighter on Sept 23rd. 200 capacity venue, dark and atmospheric, experienced and friendly doorstaff, large wooden dancefloor, late late bar ( ) and with quality DJ's such as Mick H, John Weston, Des Parker & Roger Banks included on the line-up for the September date I'm sure you will find the music policy to be top notch. ABSOLUTELY!! This a great little club .... just the right mix of everything ... brill atmosphere ... and the music is just fantastic. Something for everyone there i would have thought .. hope to see some of you there
Guest Soultown andy Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Ive already said the reasons why i think there are less smaller niters now,but they are essential to the survival of the scene with the exception of the mega lifeline line up some of the smaller niters give a chance to some of the excellent lesser know djs trying to break through, without them the scene will struggle to survive. So hats off to the promoters running them for little or no reward.

Not been for a while but I like The Oakfield in Sale South Manchester. Probably holds about 120 and the last time I was there (about 2 yrs ago now) it was getting those sort of numbers regularly. Great music, 3/4 DJ's and a very cheap subsidised bar. Got a soft spot for the Oakfield as it was the first venue I went to when getting back into the scene about 5yrs ago. Must make the effort to get there again. KTF. Drew.

Just realised, the post was about niters. Still, 1am is as near a niter as I'm likely to get the Gary Glitter fan I live with to. KTF. Drew.
