Blake H Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 As there very few music topics up at the moment how about this one. What is the one record you regret selling? Please, not the Frank Wilson you let go for £2, but on soulful content not monetry loss. To start it off mine is Sonny and Dianne "Love Trap" on Epic. Took me years to get it then sold it in my collection, doh   BH sonny___dianne_love_trap.mp3 PS anyone got one for sale??
Simsy Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 There's dude's on here who'll tell you of hundreds of sounds they've let slip through their fingers. I prefer collecting rather than trading. Trading gives me the fear, as records I have parted with have always either gone massive, shot up in value, or both. Then the thing is which ones do you really miss cos they were good records, or are you just miffed as the price has rocketed? Keeping it to a few (as I say there's always loads) recent departures include; Rosebuds - Say you'll be mine (TOWER) Ringleaders - Baby what has happened to our love (M-PAC) Pat & the Blenders - Just because (FAST EDDIE) Futures - Part time party time (PIR) Ace Spectrum - Don't send nobody else (ATLANTIC) Most miffed about Pat & the Blenders as it's a good record. It was the one with the rare b side and, wait for this... I gave it away! Second has to be the Ringleaders cos I sold it for £15 just before it went huge. Others less bothered about, least of all the Rosebuds as it's w*nk imho. So if you swapped the Cairos for a bag of marbles, I wanna hear about it fools! Hey and maybe a few others eh? Tsu Tomatoes Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I 've very rarely sold anything, but the one that always haunts me is Sam Butler. I bought it on a Sunday night do in a Pub somewhere near Hemel Hempstead from Micks Mix?? for £50. My mate who wanted it as well nagged me rotten for it. So I let him have it for what I'd paid for it.......Bastard later sold it for £90

Ralph 'Soul' Jackson to Flanny Barrino Brothers to Paul Sadot The only two soul records I have ever sold before I have another copy. I always regret selling any rare record even when I have two of them. After selling a Palmer demo of Jimmy Mack even though I have an issue it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up next morning. I guess I'm as much a hoarder as a collector.

Col Wolfe Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I very recently traded a load of reggae 45s for a scuffed-to-buggery copy of: Ray Agee - I'm Losing Again - Soultown I wanted it on the strength of the songs and it was only a few days later when I was told how much it is worth As I'm not a wanker I returned it - expect it to appear an an online auction in a month or two
Col Wolfe Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Not sure if The Eyes can be considered NS but I traded off their Mercury EP last year. BrianB Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 When Paul B came along so Cathy B was not earning, and interest rates went up to 15%, and I went on a 3 day week, I sold my issue of Let My Heart and Soul Be Free/Whats the Use Of Me Trying by the Tangeers for a fiver, along with other classics such as a Saxie Russell Thomas demo etc. to one of the Burnley crew. I was off the scene then and didn't know the values, but this mate knew and even tried to barter me down!!! I know ethics doesn't come into it, but how many of you knowing my circumstances at that time, and being a fellow soulie, would have done that, or might some of you have kindly illuminated me on the true value?
