Popular Post Jordirip Posted May 10, 2013 Popular Post Posted May 10, 2013 It was really nice to be able to play music without dancefloor pressure. The Dulcimer, for anyone who doesn't know, is a two floor bar and hasn't got a dancefloor as such, although people just dance where they are standing. It got packed out and while I was DJing upstairs, I didn't realise that the music was being piped downstairs, so you have tons of people on two floors and the beer garden all grooving at the same time. The crowd aren't a soul crowd as such, but they get really into the music, I had a few questions from people about tracks I played who were'nt soul heads. Well worth a visit to the next one with Greg Belson!! Jordi 4
Kev Cane Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) Its the way forward Jordi, for me anyway, being a mid-tempo or even slower kind of a guy dancing ain't that important, we are all clocking on a bit aswell, Horse and Groom Doncaster is similar, only its jam packed with soul heads, bit of a dancefloor as such but can honestly say its not an essential part of the day for anybody who goes there, over the many times I have been over the last 3 years or so can,t remember dancing, but I have waited for every single record played with anticipation, just the same as everyone else, and applauded 99% of whats been played. Jordi Glad you enjoyed it Jordi Was there for a aldayer a yr or so back with Brett and the Greatstone boys and the gang that went on to form the soul - Funktion . Playlist is tops mate and great to see someone giving wahoo wahoo a spin ,although tis a great double sider . Will try to get myself sorted for a trip to catch up with you and the main man Mobbsy at the next Funktion ,hopefully brother Dave too 4
Paulb Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Thanks for the playlist and kind words Jordi. We've been doing the night a few years now. Had some fantastic guests on and tbe calibre of music is always high. If you want to hear a broad selection of rare soul in a great venue then come and check us out. Myself and maxwell do our thing at Family Affair without much soulie interest but I do believe we're playing stuff as good as you'll hear anywhere. Next one is may 25th and we have Greg Belson on as guest. We're also playing the next day in the freestyle room at the York all dayer if anyone is over for that. Maybe we'll see a few new faces over the coming months. 2

Johnmcc Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Yes John, it's a United Record Inc.test press of the Appleray 45. Jordi Thanks Jordi. It's not for me (yet) but it's definitely a "whoop whoop" and stampede to the dancefloor track for many of the younger element! ATB John
