Steve Plumb Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Just picked up a spankingly lovely copy of Clydene Jackson 'Fresh' LP (feat 'I need your love' of course!) on Crossover What's the jury think of a price on this one? I reckon it's pretty tough (one or two on popsike over last 8 years but non for last six months and all fairly high $) In my mind it's always in-demand and i wonder if the price i fancy selling it at corresponds to folks' opinion on here? Cheers Steve
jocko Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) I think that anymore than £50 you should be beaten across the soles of your feet with towels. However I don't have one and very much want one, and can't afford to pay a proper price so I may not be the best person to ask........... Edited April 19, 2013 by jocko
jocko Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 One sold on ebay last week for $50 Really , maybe I should start watching ebay again. There you have it Steve, I can have 48$ (mates rates obviously) in your bank account in 10 minutes, just the say word. Assume you would pay the postage obviously..... 1

Steve Plumb Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 Going well chaps - thought i'd get more abuse and i quite fancy the wet towels Didn't see the one one ebay last week John? Be interested to see the condition cos the last one i saw on eaby went for $76 and vinyl was VG (mine is spankingly lovely as i mentioned earlier ) Good debate though but only Jords getting close to what i was thinking (only $2 reduction for mates rates Jock? You getting soft in your old age? )
Liljimmycrank Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I sold one a couple of years back for £80 Steve, and it went quickly. It's not the easiest to come by. Maybe £100 is an achievable price with the reach that your website has, and on here of course

John Reed Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Okay, if its recently sold on the open market for $50 + postage, surely that's the going rate? It's not an unknown record and I would have thought pressed in significant numbers and there are quite a few listed on collectorsfrenzy in and around that price. It wasn't mis-spelt in the listing, was in the correct sales section and was amply described. Why now a week later is it now valued more.
Agentsmith Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 why am i reading an "all over the place valuation"article?, isn't this indicative of the market in general?, with a few exceptions (imho ) the tempest's lp is £100 all day long but, was £50 all day long til its reactivation. in the case of clydene jackson it appears no one is clear on a definition so you pays yer money and takes yer choice which really confuses the issue...not like its being played again but then again, its perhaps never fallen out of favour, just waiting for "the reactivation...then, perhaps the valuation will clarify. i can site an instance that really infuriates me, one ive already mention on here, that of the fantastics - me & you on ss7...ive missed perhaps 7 copies and regardless of condition, the prices were all over the place. yes, i know condition essentially is paramount, but, putting that aside its a great record and obviously collectable and i genuinely think people who have it to sell havent got a clue what its worth, so when it yo-yo's between £140 - £70 and i still cant nail one on, i get really angry. you guys certainly dont help yourselves to deliver an authoritative version when your clutching prices out of thin air. the perfect world would reveal a tell-the-truth status quo for all vinyl, 7" or lp based on its collectability NOT just its condition........the reality is, we & vinyl have one thing in common..DNA in that, no two are ever the same.
Steve Plumb Posted April 19, 2013 Author Posted April 19, 2013 It's like hawkeye in football! If we had it, we'd have nowt to talk about! Same with prices on records
Ian Dewhirst Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 ........the reality is, we & vinyl have one thing in common..DNA in that, no two are ever the same. LOL, that's pushing it a bit too far surely? I've had multiple copies of many desirable records which all pretty much look and play the same but I've not bumped into many people that are a carbon copy of me thank god...... Ian D

Guest Brett F Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Always consider it a must have LP, and always popular on the 70's circuit, my delightful copy is autographed by Clydene Jackson, so that makes mine priceless....
Guest Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) I think the track 'I Need Your Love' came out on a 7. Was this an official release or a boot? Edited April 20, 2013 by souldan73
Steve Plumb Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Good thread this chaps, many thanks for the thoughts on it all. Clydene has gone to a good home, less than I was thinking of but more than everyone on here pitched in at, so all honours even and someone got a fine addition to their collection Cheers Steve
purist Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Steve, I clearly remember being at The Orwell when Richard ( I think it was him) dropped this and blew my mind. Most great records have an effect on you the first time you hear them but I looked at Ken and Max who were sitting with me and I knew from their expressions that we were experiencing mutual joy. Not sure if it was Ken who kicked me under the table and mouthed "what the f#%& is this" or maybe it was Max, but in an instant I knew I'd love this tune forever. Sadly the quick pressing on 45 ruined it's chances to go on to become the monster northern/rare/crossover/across the scenes dancer it deserved to be (just like in the olden days I've found no matter what type of event you're dj'ing at from Rare to Nostalgia based, It's one of those records that when you play it in a venue most times somebody will ask you to sell it to them, so there's def. demand and it is an "instant" record - hear it from the first and you'll want it. I think £100 is a minimum for one in brilliant condition, because it still isn't that well known, and I accept that getting more than a hundred for any album is difficult, but tbh if I didn't own one I'd pay that for it, and I'm as tight as they come when buying records (as you well know ;-)https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=475834280699&set=t.100001463516070&type=3&theater
