Trev Thomas Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Canadian? Or is that black? possibly, i said jamaican due to the seller being based in florida, a lot of jamaican / west indian records found there way there
boba Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 i'm pretty sure it's jamaican, they had a lot of weird stax related presses. i have the temprees 3 on jamaican stax (not we produce).
pikeys dog Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Jamaican seems favourite - particularly since it has a pre Atlantic split design label on a post split tune
Pete S Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 No reason for it not to be on yellow though even if it is jamaican
Gene-r Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) Possibly from another part of the West Indies (eg, Barbados etc). Can't see the typface too well, but it does look like a West Indian press of some sort. Having said that, he does have other Jamaican 45s on his auction list. Here's a Jamaican Staple Singers 45 on Stax which is on 45cat - blue label, but not as dark as the Jean Knight. According to the page of Jamaican Stax 45s, the old label design (and a myriad of colours) was being used there at least until 1973. https://www.45cat.com/record/nc496619jm Edited April 5, 2013 by Gene-R 1
Roburt Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Yep, numerous different Jamaican Stax 45 label colours exist ............ here's just a few ............ https://www.45cat.com/label/stax-jm
