Just seen another sales thread for an original soul patch but didn't want to comment there.

Seen a few sell recently so a few questions - apologies if it's been done.

1. Is there a sizeable market for them?

2. Do they make enough money for someone to be interested in "bootlegging" them?

3. Would it be possible to create patches that are credible "originals"?

4. Is this a crap thread?

Peter

LOL

...............it's lookin' like the answer is option number 4 Pete :D

............... some folk don't think it's cool to own up to liking patches but they're the heraldic devices of our bygone age. I've still got a couple, lost the others, which I keep with some old photos and never stuck 'em on a bag or a vest

If you go to a weekender or on line you can buy a repro' of pretty much any of the old original patches so makes you wonder how you will be able to tell which is original and which is a repro'..........you can see it now....."OPO policy applies" :D

Reckon we'll have to rely on carbon dating or some other such technical wizardry to authenticate them in a bit

It's not for me, but I know a lad sold at 23rd September 1st Anniversary patch for a £100 at Lowton a few years back, that raised my eyebrow.

Aid.

Edit: should add, could have been 3rd anniversary or something, can't remember which exactly, but you get the point.

There are/were some Wigan ones done by a friend of mine, primarily for sale on the scooter scene. These were done roughly 1990 or maybe a little earlier.

They were deliberately done using slightly incorrect yarns for the fine detail to keep them separate from original, genuine patches. I've no idea how many he did, but last I saw he still had them for sale.

I suppose after your comments on the David Washington thread , these patches must be tailor mades

I have an old record box that has the 3rrd to 6th anniversary casino badges on, the small casino round badge with soul written in some blue hearts, a talk of the north all nighter badge, Whitchurch all dayer 1976 anniversary badge, a st Ives 1st anniversary badge and some other Wigan oldies badges etc. all original. Someone offered me £200 for it! Thought they were drunk or taken to many chemicals. Forgot to mention the 7th anniversary badge inside the lid. Not for sale but interesting thread to me.....Rob

i have seen a patch that says "soul together - right on" and it has a black hand with an american flag on it shaking hands with a white hand that has a union jack on it and the hands are stretching across the atlantic ocean.

does anyone know that patch? i would love to get one (but would not pay 100 pounds for it!) or a repro? (i will check the site mentioned by Cazzino1977)...
