Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I've just finished reading 'Always magic in the air'  by Ken Emerson a book about New Yorks Brill building writers from the 60's. Although not strictly about Soul there are hundreds of references to our heroes. A highly recommended book and I got my copy for only £2 from Bibleophile.
