Ian Parker Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 just found a programme for the Ric tic revue..... amazing what lies around the attic
Guest rod Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 just read this ha ha ha h. I remember this nighter so well. Got a Ric-Tic revue hat & everythin', Used to wear i to go phishin for years ha ha ha. Anyone remember a few months earlier when "The Supremes (no origional artists) Were meant to be playing & Marv Johnson ? did a gig instead. Mad Mick from Burton, Me, Steeve Potts From Notts & shit loads of others invaded the stage (the bliss 'O' youth.) Well Pottsy (being Pottsy) did a mad drop & missing the stage by a wide margin fell into all the P.A. wiring behind, Killing the gig stone dead for a fiew minutes & Helping me (a young & impressionable lad) learn some new & exciting words from the roadies who were trying frantacly to plug everything back in again. Nice hat though...
Soulfulhound Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 What the fukc are "maroon & clears"??? you`ve been doing too many "two-tone pinks" Think he means MAROON & GREYS (DUROMINE) Ken, absolute waste of time on their own too. Remember dropping a load at Wigan in 1973 and just about being kept awake, after that they needed mixing to set em off.
harpo1 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 My good lady Sandi won the raffle for the Ric-Tic jacket.....thankfully we were only old mates in those days, and it was long gone before we got together, looks like an albino anorak....nasty Also went to Ritz on the Sun as my ex jENNIFER MISSED hINKLEY DUE TO WORK, WITH iAN POPPLE AND CRISPI sANDI STILL HAS A PROGRAMME IS IT OF INTEREST TO ANYONE
Guest rod Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Think he means MAROON & GREYS (DUROMINE) Ken, absolute waste of time on their own too. Remember dropping a load at Wigan in 1973 and just about being kept awake, after that they needed mixing to set em off. Used to have a goldfish once upon a time called DU-R O-MINE (duromine) . Picked the white coloured bits out of his fishfood & left the rest !!! Mad fish !!! Nice 2C your (ugly?) face 'gain barry?

Soulfulswifty Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Who rembers the ric tic revue i think it was at hinkly leisure centre (if my memory serves me right) would love to see some photos of of that allnighter, used to have some, left them at home when got married and moved house now my parents cant find them it was one of them nights you never forget. yeah I remember it Istill have some memoribilia one of the best times for me too Mark
Mick Howard Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) S'funny one this - I wasn't at the Ric Tic Revue as I couldn't get back to the UK from Germany where I was stationed at the time but I was certainly at some other 'live act' all nighters at Hinckley but apart from the Curtis Mayfield one I can't remember the others which is pretty sad. I must've been at the Edwin Starr one 'cos I have his autograph as well as one of the girls' from the Marvelettes who were on the same bill and I have Kim Westons from the gig she did there but again I don't remember them. Here's some photo's - Del, might have met you and Vicki there and as regards Shippo from Notts didn't know he'd passed on - a shame 'cos he was a nice guy. Edited January 10, 2010 by Mick Howard
Guest southpaw Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 In the picture from left to right, Steve Potts, Trev?, shippo, Tommy Cragg, great lads great times

I think we did meet there Mick...or was it at the Oddfellows?...and if anyone else has anymore dodgy pix of me...please dont post em up!!!!!...Del..xxxxx
Ian Parker Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I was at the Curtis Mayfield gig too. I stood speechless right in front of a god and (at the time) a living poet. he played that telecaster with ease which made my hair stand on end. ( i had some then ) CM is in my top 3 songwriters of all time, a legend and a superstar IAN
Tabs Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Best keep your glamour poses to myself then.................. and if anyone else has anymore dodgy pix of me...please dont post em up!!!!!...Del..xxxxx

Mark Jones Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Absoulutely fantastic night I was 18 at the time...went along with the Shrewsbury crowd...my mate Carl Heaps, Nobby Holland, Chris (Bearsoul) Morgan who all got a lift with Alex McBride if my memory serves me correctly (which it probably doesn't after all these years!) Was Sal (Gary Crook) there Chris? I remember buying an iron on Rictic Revue badge which I put on the back of my fav white grandad shirt...thought I was the bees knees wearing that! Also got the live Lou Ragland - I Travel Alone record of the night somewhere...will dig it out and post up if not done already? Been busy on adobe photoshop cleaning up some of the pics posted here...bit clearer now so hopefully can spot myself in the crowd! The crowd pic is great....like trawling through a where's Wally book! This Wally had a Kevin Keagan curly perm and moustache at the time! Honestly it was the fasion then!! Ian Parker Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) ok i've been thinking. I was approached at kingsway hall, new yrs eve about this event. The guy in question said that the backing singers were wearing different clothing to the photograph (crowd one). he also spotted me in the photo. In hindsight, he's 100% correct. I think some of the above shots are from the 'Edwin Starr' solo concert from a little while earlier. The blue t shirt he has on is in my drawer upstairs. . actually, the last 4 photo's posted are 2 different events if you look a little closer top left is Ric Tic revue, the other three are from the Edwin solo gig blimey, as you were Edited January 10, 2010 by parkash

The attached photo was also taken at Hinckley possibly at one of those live gigs I mentione earlier (P.S. the Curtis Mayfield one was top as stated)... Mick

Mark Jones Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 top left is Ric Tic revue, the other three are from the Edwin solo gig blimey, as you were Explains why I couldn't spot myself! Never made the Solo Edwin Starr Event...there was a reason which again I've forgotten! Do remember that T shirt though...I wanted one but didn't qualify as I wasn't there Going back to Hinckley, this is probably one of the most moving things I remember on the soul scene. Pretty sure it was a Hinckley Leisure centre (first?) anniversay nighter in about Jan/Feb '84. There must have been about 2000 soulies there and news had just got out about Jackie Wilson dying which I think Chris King told us over the mic, 2 minutes silence were held and you could have heard a pin drop. Still stays with me to this day that respect. He still happens to be my fav artist of all time his picture hanging over my fireplace. Respect to the soul scene for that moment!
Ian Parker Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 do you remember Edwin Starr doing his tribute to Joe Tex ? he did a blinding rendition of 'Show me'

Mick Howard Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Here are some photos not from the Ric Tic review but when Major Lance played at Hinckley. By the look of those people in the bottom photo (Steve, Jayne, Chris & Dave) substances may have been involved.... Mick
