Guest Gogs Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Just looking through JM's site and i came across this White Pye label "the very scarce much harder to find white label, with black text FIRST press" Light blue Pye label "hard to find FIRST press light blue label" AS both can't be "first press" does this mean white label was 1st press, Light blue 2nd press and a further press on a different light blue label? OR am i reading this wrong?. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/61393/PLAYTHINGS https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/129673/PLAYTHINGS Any help appreciated Confused.
Douglas Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I have the same white copy,Pat Brady describes it as a demo though no mention of it being a demo is stated on the label.
Guest Gogs Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I have the same white copy,Pat Brady describes it as a demo though no mention of it being a demo is stated on the label. JM lists the demo on a yellow label https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/153427/PLAYTHINGS
Douglas Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 JM lists the demo on a yellow label https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/153427/PLAYTHINGS Yes i agree,i think the white is just the first press and in no way a demonstration record.
Dave Pinch Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 if it wernt taylor made issue should be blue and demo yellow,,,not sure where white one ties in..must be a little later
Jim G Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I have a white issue also and didn't know it was "hard to find" One for sale here on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-PLAYTHINGS-UK-PYE-45-STOP-WHAT-YOURE-DOING-LISTEN-/200910176580?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2ec72e0144
Guest Gogs Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 if it wernt taylor made issue should be blue and demo yellow,,,not sure where white one ties in..must be a little later Makes sense but that wouldn't tie in with JM listing the white label as a first press, or is he wrong?
Solution Guest Gogs Posted March 31, 2013 Solution Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) I wonder if JM saw this, He has amended his info on the records in question. Now reads White label pye "the very scarce much harder to find white label variation, with black text of the FIRST press. Later issued on Purple fade design label on the SAME release #." Light blue label pye "light blue label variation of the FIRST press - also pressed with a rarer White label" So both white and light blue labels are originals Thank you for all comments, And thank you John for clearing this up.
