I had one that was popular and pretty good on british polydor called -ring the changes by paradox, maybe the other way round   it was a pretty wobbly time for me! Anyway, story had it there were only two copies, bought mine from Guy Henigan and most Rev Tony Clayton bought it from me. Never saw another copy before or since

All time fave instrumentals would include -on the road to ruins by earl wright, baritrack and exus trex.

Had a few copies of Paradox but I also discovered the vocal version!

(Cue: no you didn't, it was played in 1972)

A couple of good ones

The Van McCoy Strings - Sweet And Easy

Renfro Orchestra - A Case Of Love (Doctors Theme)  this ones a boot recently mentioned in a recent thread re Renfro demos.

San Remo Strings - Lonely One (posted below) from the LP "Swing" - an essential LP if you like instrumentals.

theo-coff invasion - lucky day - dearborn ( perhaps this was america's answer to the avengers theme? )

sweets - satisfy me baby - unissued ( bootleg accepted but mentioned in another thread here )

bob's band - locke's theme - atco ( canadian hospital tv drama, circa 71-74...big for winstanley at wigan late 78? )

Don't really do it for me personally but the archetypal instrumental for me would have to be Frankie Crocker.

Would East Coast Connection qualify for an instrumental? Don't know why, but I aways considered it one, but its actually not?

Just feels like one if you know what I mean, kind of a cross between a vocal & instrumental, another that feels like that is Lonnie Liston Smith Expansions.

Does an instrumental have to have no vocals? Food for thought.

Aid.

p.s, quite like the Betty Boo instrumental.

I sold mine last week.  I can't believe I sold it.  But I wasn't in a position to turn down £75.  Though this week I would have been in a position to turn down £75.  Won't see another copy of that in the

I could be wrong but have I just quickly skipped through 80+ posts on Classic Northern Soul Instrumentals and no mention of this????

Did take a while though

Almost without mention then

And the fact it still took to post #34 is a bit of a surprise

Probably because the topic has been done several times before...people fed up of me saying the best instrumental ever is Bari Track followed by Exus Trek, Frantic Escape and The Champion.

A comment from the opening post from the topic starter ;

i ill open with the most  popular being checkerboard squares?

Obviously the topic starter isn't fed up, and I would put 'Bari Track' firmly in this category, especially if the likes of 'Interplay' are being contributed

Just to clear things up here, if all the contributions were obscure semi/unknown instrumentals I wouldn't have mentioned 'Bari Track' and wouldn't normally post in these types of thread anyway,

Instead I read almost 2 pages of lists of readily known tracks following on from the topic starters request, and mentioned I was surprised at the absence of 'Bari Track'

No biggie really

You're totally misunderstanding what I meant, what I meant was that I would have listed Bari Track immediately but whenever we've done the topic before, I always list it, so thats what I meant when I said people would get fed up of seeing me list it.

Hope that makes sense. Nothing to do with you listing it.
