from experience are they worth having a go at?

sent £110 cash (sterling) to Europe using Signed for International recorded delivery service, paid £5-44 the privilege after declaring contents worth £110.00.

That was 18th April and has still not been received anyone else had results or fobb offs and can offer some assistance with regard to a fair conclusion.

hi paul

i sold an andrea henry, insured it for £500 with the royal mail. it was well wrapped in one of their own card mailers and when it arrived it was cracked in half. must have been stamped on, almost.

anyway, i claimed for £350 and they paid up, no probs.

I bought a record for 90 quid paid for special delivery insured to 250 it arrived cracked and when the guy selling it claimed off Royal Mail I had to take it to my local post office to have it checked. They refused to pay out saying the record was to well packed to have been damaged :hypo:

Keep on at em mate.

It took me about 3 months for them to reimburse me with 90 squid for a hat from the states.

The bleedin' posty threw it over the side gate and never left a note....ruined the fucker!

Go onto their website and give them all the details, you should get an answer (hopefully favourable) within 48 hours.

Keep pluggin' if you don't.

Good luck.

They won't pay out on 'Cash' sent through the post.

It's supposedly illegal to send paper money overseas, hence the need for things like Western Union Money Orders / Bank Iban Transfers / Paypal etc...

You're better off saying that the contents of any payment are 'collectable' stamps or post cards - that way they are more likely to pay out in the event of a claim.

Never put on a customs declaration that the vcontents are cash - you might as well write 'Steal Me' on it....

Joe, I'm pretty sure you can send cash insured and get payed out for it if it goes missing.

Remember something similar happened to Linda (miss-popcorn) and when she claimed they asked for proof that she had withdrawn the said amount of cash from her bank account.

Sent a substantial amount of cash about 6 months ago, and enquired with Royal Mail at time, who said it was okay to send and insure.

Yes...I had £400 in cash go missing en route to France...they paid up the whole lot including the original postage I'd paid

My only complaint was the time frame...The item has to be missing for at least 28 days before the even class it as missing...they then investigate...my cash arrived ok at the airport in France..it was never seen again

Also, as Mace pointed out....I was asked for proof that I'd even had the money, luckily I'd sold stuff to a guy who'd paid me by cheque, so I was forced to withdraw from the bank and had kept the receipt.......I cant imagine what would have happened if i had not had this proof
