Benji Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Disqualified because it was a US recording though I always wondered how this UK release came about. Was it like a phone call to the UK MGM office "Hello London! We got a song here. Recorded by a bunch of High School musicians and a priest. We don't think anyone in the ex-colonies would buy it. But maybe you guys in old europe do?"
dthedrug Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 There's also Don Charles version on Parlophone but possibly of more interest, an unissued Pye acetate by Stuart Smith, this was a one off which I sold last year for £500.https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/stewart-smith-drifter-pye-acetate-1967.htmlHI ALL NICE ONE PETE the ACCITATE you mentioned was not bad at all, If it is the one MICK played a couple of years agoDON CHARLES IS MY FAVE.BENJI I AGREE with your point of view and as such the matter is closed on this one< at least for the time being, Also I am sure their are more versions of this classic (DRIFTER)STILL GETTIN ON THE GOOD FOOT DAVE K
