Ended early. I wonder what this would have sold for if the 9 day listing on ebay was completed...? Such a great record. Both sides. Been asking around for it a few times and completely understood that I should just leave the dreams of this one behind... Was a little bit surprised to see that this was a Memphis redord. Always thought it was recorded somewhere else... Does anyone know the story behind the record and the group?

Covered up by Butch mid to later 80's, forget off top of my head what it was covered as. Andy Dyson and Mick H also have copies and "Look At You" current big sound again, well both sides really.

Had this on a tape of Butchs in 1986 ish , there was no track listing and it took me over 10 years   to put a title to all the tracks the tape also included  Mr Lucky - born to love you , Little Ron And The Esquires - I found someone ,  West coast distributors - Girl i love you , still got it somewhere will have to have a search .  Reckon  Mr Dobson was a country mile in front of the chasing pack.

Butch played "there was a woman" covered as Masqueraders late stafford era, once asked him at the white swan to play it and he said " it's not ready for at least another 15 years yet". Suppose he was right.

Still one of the great double sided group records taking pride of pace in my racks for many years...

I spent years playing the tape in my car , I was convinced the title must be - Fairweather woman   and was always looking for it , probably why I never got a copy

Now we're getting somewhere.  :D

Difficult to tell with these rare beasts, when was the last time someone bought one and what condition was it in. None of this helps with what an Ex copy for example might go for these days.

£3k mark sounds realistic, just the waiting for one to come up (and of course have  the 3k kicking about )

lol, well sometimes it's the only way to engage some of the lazy feckers on here (just joking) so there's method in my madness!

It's hard to put a price on it as it has rarely come up for sale and so few copies about.  If Nev would tell us what he offered to get the auction taken off then you'd have a good idea of a starting price   Ted also got one, off the same seller I think he said?

As Nev said though a starting price of £3k at least.  Demand is rising now that it is finally getting the recognition it deserves at nighters.

Less than the $5k that I got offered not long after I got it :)

Why Memphis? West Coast isn't it.

Yeah I've heard that said. Having just listened to it or the first time, it doesn't come anywhere near the brilliance of the other side for me. It was comparable to something like Silky Hargraves for me, it was that good (ILAY). I dunno, few more listens maybe..  :g:

Thanks for the tips chaps.

Its a great double sider and makes me smile at the thought of how it must have felt l ,to find a record on a pretty much one off label, then to stick it on a deck and hear both sides for the very first time !

I bet it brought a big grin or two and sent the heart fluttering :)

I recall the guy who found mine ,a crate digger from Memphis ,who wanted to find out about it before selling it .

He spoke to a few Memphis record collectors / historians ,and they had never heard or seen it before !
