45cellar Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) not everyone's cup of tea but.. So is the sun - World Column stompin' baby even better though.. The Tamangoes - I really love you has me running for the dancefloor every time. THE TOMANGOE'S - THE STEINWAYS - THE DEL-LARKS - THE VONETTES I love the unusual approach made to the intro - The Del-Larks being the classic example THE DEL-LARKS - JOB OPENING https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Del_Lar...Job_Opening.ram heres another THE CHALFONTES - HE LOVES ME https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Chalfon...He_Loves_Me.ram and some that just pick you up from the start and leave you in a crumpled heap in a corner after a couple of attempted back flips. THE LOVETTES - LITTLE MISS SOUL https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Lovette...e_Miss_Soul.ram I still get that hairs on the back of neck tingle when these records are played. or the slow, anticipation of a classic instrumental EARL WRIGHT - THUMB A RIDE https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Earl_Wright...humb_A_Ride.ram or the ease you in to the record approach ALDORA BRITTON - DO IT WITH SOUL https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Aldora_Brit...t_With_Soul.ram All magic in their own way Edited May 13, 2006 by 45cellar
Guest mark shepherd Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 knocking people out of the way, running over tables, kicking over drinks, nearly goin arse over tit on talc'd floor - the montclairs - hey you, does it every time for me. anyone got a spare, trade or sell shep
45cellar Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) knocking people out of the way, running over tables, kicking over drinks, nearly goin arse over tit on talc'd floor - the montclairs - hey you, does it every time for me. anyone got a spare, trade or sell shep I am in awe of wonder at the imagination of the writers and producers of these fine records. Imagine, trying to convey your idea to a session musician. "Well, you strike this cow bell" and "Rattle that chain" Wonderful, I wish that I had been a fly on the wall at just one of these recording sessions. Edited May 13, 2006 by 45cellar
Guest Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 WILLIE PICKETT - ON THE STAGE OF LIFE stupendous tune from start to finish
Guest Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 ivano alberto fossatti (Al Foster) Night of the Wolf, ready, steady....SHUFFLE.......
Guest Adam G Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Come on the epitome of soul intros has got to be "Open the doors of your'e heart" Darrel Banks those horns for a more crossover style the intro to Virgil Henrys "i'll be true" is great (I dont like the rarer Cookie version even if the vocals stronger the backings weaker than this one)
Guest Andy BB Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Can't argue with The Montclairs or Tomangoes. Love the intro to Doris Troy - I'll do anything.

Sunnysoul Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 For fantastic intros, you also have to throw in THE FOUR PERFECTIONS "I'M NOT STRONG ENOUGH"
Guest ruffsounds Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) gloria_jones.mp3What about Gloria Jones (Heartbeat) now thats an intro ---- awesome cheers Ruffsounds Edited May 14, 2006 by ruffsounds
Guest Matt Male Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 And for some Kick ass intro got to be Gene Chandler's There was a time OMG yeah, forgot about that one. I reckon they built in these intros so that dancers could get to the dancefloor in time and breaks in stompers so the dancers could take a breather. It's fate, it's just perfection...
