Ljblanken Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I have these three singles by Jeff Dale on ATCO, and I love them all. Does anyone know anything more about him? Language Of Love / Don't Forget About Me Baby - 1965 Come To Me Girl / Where Did I Go - 1965 A Suffering Pain / Our Love Will Grow Stronger - 1966 Thanks!
Guest drewid Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Where did I go - great track. Roger banks used to spin this out ooh 20 yr back. He had it on his "open your lug holes " sales tape back then . Can't understand why people haven't snapped these up , I mean the collectors who pay silly money for overplayed oldies on 2nd issues/boots and stuff like this are right under their nose ! 3

I've got these three 45's as well and rate them very highly. Does anyone know if he has any other releases worth checking out? Dave
Ljblanken Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Flavor of the week , this year and every year. this song is so dramatic - i LOVE the drum rolls in intro ... are those kettle drums?
Derek Pearson Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I've got these three 45's as well and rate them very highly. Does anyone know if he has any other releases worth checking out? Dave It's impossible not to agree with everything that's been said about Mister Dale. Amazing how he turned up on a major label like Atco without being recommended on the strength of some sort of local release first? It's possible he was in a group that Atco was already familiar with so consequently they knew the standard of his voice. After a little bit of persuasion they convinced him to ditch the rest of the group and go all out solo for the big time that beckoned... Who knows? Derek Derek
Mr Smithy Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 this song is so dramatic - i LOVE the drum rolls in intro ... are those kettle drums? Don't know, don't care. Doesn't matter.
Ljblanken Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Don't know, don't care. Doesn't matter. i only wanted to clarify whether it was (a) kettle drums, or (b) Odin weeping in the heavens because of song's supernatural power to induce melancholy..... because both are plausible answers.
Guest Dave Turner Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 (edited) Jeff Dale I believe was a guy called Jeff Crutchfield from Cleveland, OH although he was Memphis born. He was a member of The Springers (not the Philly group) At the end of the 60s he operated a barbecue place in Cleveland but ended up getting murdered at some point. Crutchfield's (Jeff Dale's) uncle was a member of Edwin Starr's (Charles Hatcher's) Futuretones Edited March 3, 2013 by Dave Turner

Leo, it was called Jeff & Al's and it was situated on the corner of 79th & Holton. It was in the late 60's though and it was short lived.
