Not sure if you're buying or selling Don. If buying and want to save a few quid to get this great track with some rather nice deep soul things too, then his LP on Guinness can be picked up for around £50-£100 depending on condition. Very high quality recording it is too.

Cheers, Steve.

A review of the Guinness album here. Obviously one may agree or disagree with the guy's comments

One thing's for sure he's a great voice

For my ears the following sound nice on his CD's (short clips on Dell's own site below)

Taxi

I Stand Accused

Sweet Love Songs

Daily Lovin'

Welcome Home

and that cut of Cornelius Brother's "Too Late To Turn Back Now" sounds great.

Not as dull as Sammy Ward 'Sister Lee', even my kids call it "that boring record"

Love Frank Dell!

I put one in my sales box recently for Rugby having paid a fiver for it in the 80's i hadnt put a price on it but the back of the sleve showed a 100 quid from some other sale, old Charlie mac nearly had a heart attack thinking he had got a bargain  sold it for 300 in the end

i bought it originally in 1991 for a fiver from big kev from mexboro he thought it was a boot..i wanted it but put him straight on the matter,,, he was impressed so he let me have it for a fiver anyway as long as i went to the bar and bought him a pint...happy days...sold it late 90`s for 75 to andy lees...only just got one back all the way from poland

Now you see Sam Ward rings my bell, again for the production - it's just a stone groove, it wallops that bassline out.

anita ward ring my bell barry...... ........seriously tho i never got sam ward...bored with it after 30 seconds...i didnt get bari track either tho i did buy it for the other side

BRADLEYS RECORDS in Doncaster had a few copies of this GUINNESS LP Early 80s.

Racks full of LPs Deleted and cheap Upstairs in their store.

I bought about 4 Copies of FRANK DELL L.P. at one time, wish I still had them. I left a few copies on the shelves too. Those were the days.

Unfortunately I didn't DAVE.

I sold them to buy 45s, a few years ago. Never really collected LPs, Just browsed the shelves In places like Bradleys for Bargains to sell on at a later date.

I have the Valise copy. Always been a 45 collector with too many wants to purchase vs funds.

spot on pete with no2 edging it..although i would have swapped the uptights for frank dell

Well it's all subjective Dave, I didn't think that many people would know The Uptights, or things like The Voices, I know I included one or two 'top 500' things but in general it's stuff I would have played if I dj'd, or would like to hear someone play. They're meant to run together like a dj set. Not to be taken too seriously.

Edited by Pete S

some great tunes on that list pete  , having had or still got most of em :hatsoff2:

It's a nice tune and I like Frank Dell's vocal style BUT HBYGWO is too slow for a dancer and the great 'BABY YOU'VE GOT IT' is too fast (now !!)

I know that Frank Dell is also Big Frank & Essence on Philips. But didn't he also record under a 3rd name?

The Thinking Man's oldies lists look superb. How I wish I could afford The Tempos or Precisions :(

I remember when he did Cleethorpes, he had such a powerful voice that he started singing as he walked on stage and the mic picked it up clear as a bell, truly amazing to see and hear
