We just had a great soul event on the beach here on the California coast. We rented a moving van ("lorry"?), put a full bar and sound system inside, powered it with a military grade field battery, and had a blast!

Big tune was "California soul" by Brenda and Tabs!

no worries. you see the two turntables? i had records to do the whole night, but once the dancing started, the records started skipping. we tried to put some yoga mats under the tables to absorb the shock, but no avail. it was either laptop or no music at that point!

if this van is rocking, don't come a knocking!

(actually a cop did stop by, but he said as long as we kept the alcohol inside it was cool. good dude!)

OK, I'm up for it Roburt! Sounds like just the thing to get me out of this overcrowded metropolis! Who's playing, is it Top 500 or underplayed rarities and, if it's OVO, how do we stop the bouncy decks? Questions, questions.....

I used to work on Silcocks travelling fair on the waltzer and speedway, long before CDs and we used to have the decks suspended by bungee type rubber slings.

Despite the bouncing and shaking of the rides we had no prolems with the records jumping or skipping

awesome! we had a couple of engineers in the crowd and they spent all night devising plans to prevent skips - bungee cords sounds like just the thing!

I've djed with decks suspended from the ceiling to stop the records jumping but drunks would invariably lean on the suspended decks and deck it

themseves when they moved.

Looks like a swell party..

Right, I'll book a Pickfords lorry tomorrow and get Jeremy Clarkson on board as the driver.

We can only feature OVO that was played at the Mojo, Bee Gee, Attic + a few Clifton Hall MS tracks.

It'll also only be open to Tykes though, both DJ wise & punters ..... deffo no 'yellow bellys allowed' on board.
