I was talking with Butch at the 100 Club last night and we got into conversation regarding obscure Motown related Promos. The recent Marvaletts promo 45 associated with with the Sophisticated Soul album was mentioned,I also remember many years ago seeing on the front of a magazine called Midnight Express.A photostat of Smokey Robinson and The Miracles -I care about Detroit- on a white Tamla promo copy. Was I seeing things or does my memory serve me well, can any of you Motown Historians confirm this?Cheers Chris.

NO Tamla copy

That Tamla 54144 was a joke - a mock up - and I am old enough to know who was behind it all!

It was a photocopy of the Standard Groove record and a Tamla 45 from the time.....

There's this mock up photo on the net as well. Sorry it's not very sharp

There is a picture of the Tamla promo of "I Care About Detroit" is Simon Soussan's "Rare Motown & Soul Price Guide" but

I guess you'd have to consider the source.
