Diddy Morgan Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 funny how things stick in the mind , just reminiscing a saturday night when richard had been playing frankie karl for agood while , and there were numerous copies in the bar by the seventh avenue aviators at a £10 a go , and mr searling catagorically stating it wasnt the same record over the mic , still struggle to hear the difference even now , great times eh!
Dave Pinch Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 what was he thinking..its the same record
Diddy Morgan Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 no dave , the point im trying to make is everyone assumed his copy was the 7th avenue aviators cos there was a rook of em for sale in the record bar , and as you say its the same recording, i recall on the train going home asking my mates who sings that one which goes.............you should ave held the knot a little tighter !!!!! ha ha. 17 years old and your life revolved around waiting for the next weekend to arrive, ave a good day mate
Pete S Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) There are a couple of small differences like the intro being repeated on one version but yeah it's basically the same record Edited February 17, 2013 by Pete S
Gilly Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 The important bit for me is on the b side on one of the labels is The Boy Next Door fookin brill.
Steve Foran Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I recall a similar thing when Al Williams was big. RS had it on Labeat and John Poole said he had it on Palmer. Cue debate. Of course both were right. Always thought Frankie Karl was 7th Ave Aviators, just given makeover by label before release on Congress.Sounds the same to me to be honest. See you Sat Steve.
Guest MrC Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Thought they were both Frankie Karl, the difference in name was for purely contractual reasons?
Steve Foran Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Thought they were both Frankie Karl, the difference in name was for purely contractual reasons? That seems logical
