Benji Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Sounds from the Shelter vol.13 - Gotta fall in love again The first 2013 cast features LP-only tracks* with a sort of midtempo crossover-ish feel. Most from the late 60s to the mid 70s with two 80's tunes thrown in. As usual, I hope enjoy this podcast as much as I did making it! Look out for another podcast in february... (* Mel & Tim and Dee Dee Warwick are different mixes to the 45's) 1/ Tony Camillo's Bazooka * Come to me * A&M (Germany) 2/ The Independents * Lucky fellow * Wand 3/ Rita Graham * My cup runneth over * Tangerine 4/ Dee Dee Warwick * Where is that rainbow * Mercury 5/ Jackie Wilson * Just call my name * Brunswick 6/ Milton Wright * Get no lovin' tonight * Alston 7/ Kimberley Briggs * If I could work a miracle * Fantasy 8/ Mel & Tim * I may not be what you want * Stax (Germany) 9/ Bridge * Loves in your corner * First Experience (UK) 10/The Presidents * Girl you cheated on me * Sussex 11/Barbara Lewis * The stars * Stax (Germany) 12/Darrell Banks * Forgive me * Volt 13/Maxine Brown * Just give me one good reason * Epic 14/Karin Jones * Ready, ready love * Handshake 15/Thelma Houston * Nothing left to give * Tamla-Motown (Germany) 16/Timothy Wilson * Gotta fall in love again * H&L 17/Willie Hutch * Lucky to be loved by you * RCA 18/Della Reese * I got the blues * ABC 19/Chuck Jackson * Can I change my mind * Tamla-Motown (Germany) 20/Julius Wright * Things will change * RS (Germany) 21/Freddy Butler * They say I'm afraid * Kapp https://soundsfromtheshelter.podomatic.com/ 1
Cobbles Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) dee dee warwick alternative take is a fantastic tune...sounds slightly faster to the mercury 45....is your's a test press or acetate??? nice listening ...thanks !! franc Edited February 13, 2013 by cobbles
Benji Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Franc, glad you enjoy the podcast. Dee Dee is taken off the 1969 "Foolish Fool" album on Mercury, regular issue. Don't think the LP take is faster than the 45. It's more like that my cheapo Technics lookalike turntable actually plays a bit faster when set to @33 rpm. 1
