Paul R Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Not just nice - its wonderful. IMO of course - can't think of anyone else 10 yards from me who likes it Is this a different Bobby Bennet to the one that used to present Junior Showtime, and did a version of "You're Ready Now"? If it is, Paul
Garethx Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 This Bobby Bennett is a former Famous Flame, apparently. He had a mighty voice and made a handful of singles in Philadelphia in the sixties and early seventies with releases on V-Tone, Junior, Phil LA of Soul and Philadelphia International among others. All of these are really good soul records.

Guest Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Bit Elvis, Karen? It's not even remotely 'Elvis', unless you mean the flip which is an early R&B number which is not that good.

Guest Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 He has a really soulful voice doesn't he! Any more from him that we might not have heard yet?
Keith Money Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 A fantastic tune which I first heard played by Tim Brown on a "Rare Soul" radio show at the first Cala Gran weekender in Blackpool, I eventually managed to get a copy and have played it out at a few times (It went down well at the Greatstone I remember) a lot of his tunes are definately worth looking out for. Keith

Chalky Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Andy Dyson the first I heard play this out some years ago now, since then it's been one of my all time faves, simply one of the best beat ballads ever
Soul-slider Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 There is a boot going around...white demo. Seen it on ebay a few times from some guy in the States, realised they were snyde when another guy had one (German I think?) and he was honest enough to say they're pressings. V-Tone is a very early label, there's loadsa stuff on it from the late 50's early 60's by run of the mill artists.

Pretty sure these were done some years ago as it's popular with US Island Soul collectors and pretty scarce.

The V-Tone boot very easy to spot, it's got a preforation mark or dotted line round the inside edge of label. There's also another boot (Canadian I think) which is very rare, only 100 pressed, saw one sold for £200 not so long ago. Edited May 17, 2006 by chalky
