Thanks Neil, great watch.

Dave why sad ?, that's the whole point of the film, underneath all the decay is a very vibrate, city which still has a great music scene. It's just that it's different to before, but still lotsa young kids making great music. Cool interesting shop, food stores, resturants, music clubs.

It's a fab city and always a blast to go to.

I can understand that, but time stops for no one and considering the hard knocks the city's had it is reforming in an interesting and exciting way. Vibrate music scene, cool 'Off Grid' community, big student population, because of Wayne State, lots of alternative shops and restaurants, plus you can go out and listen to music nearly every night of the week.

I have not been to Detroit so its interesting to hear a take on things from those that have. I find the doc' quite optimistic despite the extreme economic hardship that has hit the City, the Youthville piece with Mike Huckaby helping the youngsters is great I thought and I'm really pleased the words 'soul' and 'passion' are in there as personally I think the soul of the city still permeates the music. Last year Robert Hood released the third part of a Detroit Trilogy, a 3 x LP set that is utterly tremendous, not everyones cup of tea I appreciate but in my opinion great stuff and keeping music in Detroit progressive and alive.

Just my thoughts

Neil

Dave,i agree with you it has had its hard knocks but the music scene will help big time to try and bri ng the city round.

this looks a neat little documentary, if my pc would stop lapsing ( the film keeps stop/starting...signal problem? ) anyway, anything about detroit is goosebump material even if the visual effect of decay is dispiriting...the fact is we know it had its heyday and what a glorious period that was, so much so that you can easily visualize what it DID look like in its pomp...thankfully as well, we still have archive footage...fact is we can only dream of what it must have been like for our icons who actually did live the dream...thank god for berry gordy, motown and the motown wannabees that gave us northern soul.
