Can't say that this is my fave version of "Dark End of the Street" ......... the backing is just TOO amateurish ....

There has to be a better reggae version ...... no doubt Pete S will point me in the right direction.

I can't, I'm too stunned at you saying that the backing track is amateurish LOL this backing track has been used on 7 or 8 classics including the oe below, which isn't a soul record but sounds like it should be - totally fantastic track by the same artist

Afraid its way too 'tinny' for me Pete.

Beat you to the 67 version of "Queen Majesty" !!

It's pretty easy to pick up mate, £20 for a mint one but any less, £8 to £15 really. This UK version is way better than the Jamaican mix, the Jamaican one doesn't have the strings which make the UK one so beautiful. Next one I get I'll give you it. In fact I might have one on my jukebox (though I think it's Jamaican - doh!)

Play this out occasionally. Far better version of our Kenny IMO.

Also drop the needle on this. Again far better than the original by the Temptations again IMO.

Agreed Pete but have seen it in boxes at Soul nights for anything up to £50 on UK Gas.

Got a rather strange Australian copy (with added strings & things) on W&G records & rather nice it looks too.

Agreed 100% but if people are daft enough to pay it, you know the rest.

Anyway have you ever seen an Aussie copy that I mentioned?

Glad somebody posted this up ... I bought a load of LP's recently and in the batch was a reggae Lp on Dragon label with no proper cover. One track was a really decent version of walking up a one way street but no artist by the title! Would like to know who the artist is and was it released as a single?? Cue Pete Smith or some other knowleable person (Johnny Boy South??)
