Guest tommymac Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 does anyone have any info on a promo 12" of this from uk charly records is this rare? hard to find? also any idea what i would have to pay for one. would be grateful of any information thanks TOM
Roburt Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Well Charly put out a 'Best Of' CD on Joe Tex in 2005 that included his Dial recordings. So, they maybe had the rights to his Dial suff back then. I have no knowledge of a Charly 12" featuring the track but I wouldn't put it past them to have tried to cash in on the the popularity of UYPL back then.
John Reed Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 David Flynn may be able to help, but he's probably in bed at the moment

Guest brivinyl Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 does anyone have any info on a promo 12" of this from uk charly records is this rare? hard to find? also any idea what i would have to pay for one. would be grateful of any information thanks TOM I've got a copy of a white label preview 12" from Charly Records. It features 4 tracks from the 1989 album Different Strokes. It features a different mix of Under Your Powerful Love to the one released on Dial 45. As for the question is this rare, all I can say is I received this as a promo at the time of release and I've never seen another copy. The press release that came with the single ends ............ENJOY THIS EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW AND TREASURE IT, IT'LL DOUBTLESS BECOME A COLLECTORS ITEM.
Guest tommymac Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 thats it thanks very much bri. sounds like it could be rare dont think it will be a high price item maybe only 25 to 30! but would be classed as the original brtish release i think. thaks to everyone for there input much appreciated TOM
Guest Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 There were x100 white labels made. Some got mailed out to DJs and radio stations and the rest were taken by the reps (Brian Rae, Dave Evison, Rob Moore, Andy Card and myself) for promotion. The record collector in me stopped myself from writing on the labels! Been a long time since I heard it, but the alternate take was minus the string section, as I recall.
Guest tommymac Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 thanks very much flynny have managed to track one down, wanted one without strings on it but didnt want to get the new re-issue and that twelve has to be as close to a uk original as anything can be.
