Anoraks Corner Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 'Spoilers Rap' A superb slab of Chicago cross-over-funky-soul by The Spoilers (on Lock) / The Persuasions (on Erica). Highly recommended...can't believe this one hasn't ever really taken off big style...has it all! Question: which came first the Lock or Erica release?
Dave Moore Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Summer Breeze on the flip? I have this Erica disc somewhere I think. Regards, Dave
Swifty Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) Have had a couple of copies on Erica , never seen the other one on Lock ,but that means fook all !!! Swifty Edited February 4, 2013 by SWIFTY
Tim Smithers Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Ive been playing the persuasions out a fair bit, but alas where i come from down south, no bugger listens lol, great tune
Guest Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Summer Breeze on the flip? I have this Erica disc somewhere I think. On the Erica disc, yes Dave...also a fantastic tune The Lock copy however has the instrumental to Spoilers Rap, which works nicely
Tim Smithers Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Never seen the one on Lock before, thanks for sharing
Jumpinjoan Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have it on Lock, got it off ss boss Mike if I remember rightly. Think I put it on a cd swap ages ago, I like it
boba Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I was going to say what I thought came first but if you listen to "summer ride" vs. "spoiler's rap" they're clearly not even the same group. That high falsetto in "Summer ride" is Larry Johnson, lead of the majestic arrows, elevation on crown town, etc. and the group is clearly all adults. "Spoiler's rap" is clearly a kiddie group.
Mike Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I have it on Lock, got it off ss boss Mike if I remember rightly. Think I put it on a cd swap ages ago, I like it ah yep, can still remember the conversation about it with Tony always enjoyed the instrumental more than the vocal fairly sure the story behind the different releases is on here somewhere ? maybe somewhere else, have read it but can't remember for sure if it was the spoliers first?
boba Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 It has to be the spoilers first now that the persuasions are not the spoilers. They must have reused the track as a b-side.

Highly recommended...can't believe this one hasn't ever really taken off big style...has it all! Question: which came first the Lock or Erica release? Hi Dave , i've got the Erica copy too, had it about 18 months, never heard it played out yet though. I am sure it is one that will take off soon. Have not seen the Lock copy before , which is rarer ? all the best Frank Norwich.
Guest Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Have not seen the Lock copy before , which is rarer ? Hi Frank, Have had half a dozen on Erica, but only one on Lock...but that simply reflects what is available over here...it may be different in Chicago and downtown Norwich! Hope you'well, Flynny
boba Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 in chicago the persuasions 45 is what shows up, "summer ride" was a hit. however, people like terry gesten have had actual stock of the lock 45. not sure where that leaves the question of "which is rarer".
