Quinvy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 When did this become so expensive? I seem to remember it being £100. I'm sure I sold mine to Joan for around that amount. Has Butch started playing it or something? 1
boba Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 there are 6 bob and gene 45s on modo (not including the previously unissued daptone 45). which one are you talking about? a bunch of them are valuable.
Trev Thomas Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 "i really love you" which you could pick up for £75 - £100 a couple of years ago
Chalky Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I Really Love You has not been £100 for a long time, well I've not seen it for that price for a long time.
Trev Thomas Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 in 2009 i got 2 copies one off here after i posted up a want £100 , one off ebay £75, ok a bit more than a couple of years ago, but this record has rocketed in price over the past few years
Guest Dave Turner Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) For anyone who's interested here's a very good write-up on Mo Do and Bob & Gene https://www.myspace.c.../blog/201474616 Edited January 31, 2013 by Dave Turner
Ted Massey Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Why would you want to pay 700/800 for a record with such a crap recording. great record thou 1
NEV Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 When did this become so expensive? I seem to remember it being £100. I'm sure I sold mine to Joan for around that amount. Has Butch started playing it or something? When someone bid £800 on eBay for it about 2yr back
grant Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Why would you want to pay 700/800 for a record with such a crap recording. great record thou Agree Ted, top tune but appalling production, I just thought all copies I'd heard were worn out
Popular Post Quinvy Posted January 31, 2013 Author Popular Post Posted January 31, 2013 I'm amazed that one eBay sale could do that. Seems to be loads of great and rare 45's that have dropped in value, or maybe fallen out of favour? The strange world of northern soul. 4
Ted Massey Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Agree Ted, top tune but appalling production, I just thought all copies I'd heard were worn out i know Grant i heard it at a venue recently and folks were dancing staggering it was just a noise
Popular Post Cobbles Posted January 31, 2013 Popular Post Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) bob and gene "sailboat" is very similar in tempo n probably better produced and less well known!!! cheers franc Edited January 31, 2013 by cobbles 5
Benji Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 bob and gene "sailboat" is very similar in tempo n probably better produced and less well known!!! cheers franc with a price tag of 200+ unfortunately.
Cobbles Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 with a price tag of 200+ unfortunately. oops!!!!... perhaps better known than i thought
Guest Dave Turner Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 oops!!!!... perhaps better known than i thought In demand as much for the first outing of the flip "I Can Be Cool"
Ritchieandrew Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Great record, but the Mastering is very poor. I've never heard one that plays load & clear, which is a shame as it is otherwise a great record.!
Rushden Vic Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 "i really love you" which you could pick up for £75 - £100 a couple of years ago Your right Trev , I had 2 copies of I Really Really love you and sold both for £100 2 - 3 years ago , seemed to be around that price for years as I seem to remember getting a copy from Adey Pierce 10 years ago for 100 and a copy of Sailboat for 80
sepia Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 i sold mine on here for i think £175 or £125 but it struggled to sell @ first, took a few listings. the production put me off.didnt seem to sound any louder the higher i put the volume up.
Trev Thomas Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 i dont think the sound quality problems are down to poor production, more to do with bad pressing 1
Dave Pinch Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 is it the same bobby nunn that was on motown in the early 80`s
Guest Dave Turner Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) Trev, although it was a low budget set up in a basement it was also pressing problems. William Nunn wasn't pleased with the pressing quality and went to the Rite pressing plant in Cincinatti where he saw a young lad younger than his own son operating the equipment. He then decided to change plants which is where the yellow labels get replaced with the tri-colour. At what point that was I don't know off hand without scanning around but it must have been after the Alfred O release (Mo Do 110) which is yellow. Just looked through Rite pressings and Mo Do 116 was the last Rite press Edited January 31, 2013 by Dave Turner
Guest Dave Turner Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 is it the same bobby nunn that was on motown in the early 80`s Dave, yes it is. Well associated with Rick James
Bigsoulman Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I put it up on here as a want and was quoted £1000/1200 by certain people who are replying to this very thread. No chance!
Quinvy Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Wow! That's amazing. It's certainly a good tune, but as others have said, terrible sound quality.
Louise Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 i know Grant i heard it at a venue recently and folks were dancing staggering it was just a noise You must have forgotten to take your ear plugs with you that night, mind you things need to be played really loud when they've got your shirt's to compete with !!! Why don't you give "I Gotta To Find A Way/Don,t Leave Me " a listen cheap and cheerful just like me Dave 1
