Benji Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 George Blackwell "Can't lose my head" finished on Ebay yesterday @ : https://www.ebay.de/itm/271141702908?nma=true&si=sYhSLdtcjwRFY%2BdnNiia93pwPPw%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true The whole auction smells very fishy. Description of the record nicked off a previous Ebay auction. Pictures showing two different presses (1 orig/1 boot). Seller didn't bother to reply to confirm authenticity. I don't think winner will be happy about his purchase. Or am I too sceptical?
Pete S Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Both big scans are of the bootleg Benji, they both have stuck on labels as far as I can see. There was actually a counterfeit before that one with a moulded label as well.
Gene-r Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 The words 'touch' and 'barge-pole' come to mind.
Benji Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Yes, very dubious. Just noticed that both pictures of the a-side are different. Meaning the one in the top left corner is different to the one in the item description.
Steve Foran Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Had a GB related problem years ago, sent it back and dot refund from dealer who should have known better. The record was resold by same guy at a weekender. When the buyer became aware he rang and insisted on his money back BEFORE returning the record. Money arrived and he returned the tune complete with hole drilled through the vinyl. 1
KevH Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Did this go for 37 euros? or an i reading the description wrong.?
Gene-r Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Even his Beatle items on auction look very suspect. The "I Want To Hold Your Hand" picture sleeve has been heavily bootlegged, and I doubt he even has the LP he's listing.
Mr Smithy Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Even his Beatle items on auction look very suspect. The "I Want To Hold Your Hand" picture sleeve has been heavily bootlegged, Later reissue, they airbrushed the cig in Maccas hand out for that.
Soul-slider Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Did this go for 37 euros? or an i reading the description wrong.? Which equates to what? £33 ish, 70's boots go for that anyway don't they, so maybe the buyer knew what he was purchasing. 1
Gene-r Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Which equates to what? £33 ish, 70's boots go for that anyway don't they, so maybe the buyer knew what he was purchasing. In view of the fact two different types of label scans were used, I wouldn't be surprised if the buyer becomes the victim of the 'empty package' scam. Trust no one..............and take it from someone who was a victim of it. Edited January 29, 2013 by Gene-R
