I have a beautiful copy of Mary Wheeler's "I Feel In My Heart" on Atom. Been made an offer on it, I'm tempted but love the song..wondered what members thought was the going rate (whatever that is) was. Appreciate your help. Any info on Miss Wheeler or opinions of record & where its been played also gratefully received.

Best

Before anyone suggests it is, I can tell you that it's not the same Mary Wheeler who recorded on Calla. I know someone who talked to the Calla artist.

I think around 2004ish it fetched a decent some, but it seems to struggle to get near the 300-400 quid mark now, although I think it's more than worthy of a 500 quid price tag!

Remember it being played at the Dome quite a lot a decade ago. Great record, love the ending.

Well, I played it twice there during 2002...maybe AlanH played it a few times the following year :g:

Agree with John, love the way it builds

think I got to know the record thru the Capitol Soul Club days as well. Bought it off Anglo soon after at a pricely sum. the sleeve still has tims original writing "first copy we ever had" on it. quite scarce to be found and every time I see a copy I am amazed to see how little the interest and therefore sales price is...maybe that type of midtempo-ish mid sixties girl soul its just not en vogue anymore. just like that beautiful lydia o`connor that springs to my mind immediately when thinking what I used to combine with mary wheeler back then. anyway, if your lucjky I amsure you can get one for 350 gbp these days...but occasions are very little..

very true Marc,I've spun the Lydia occonnor and Mary wheeler in a set in the past and they both did really well, but as of late that particular sound as taken a back seat...shame as I like the Lydia occonnor and the Mary wheeler tunes!

Don't rhink Al has had a copy? Great record, funny B-side doo wop thing.

Allways wanted it and would I still like it if I paid 509 for it. Got a cheap one, very cheap and yes would still love it.

Not sure if its a white issue or white demo thing going on.

Played this quite a bit earlier than 2002 , think it was the first copy to come through , got it from Tim Ashibende straight swop for Tamala Lewis ( Marton ) not one of my better deals . Still a nice mid tempo tune though .

I recall when it first surfaced..I had to wait until the small clutch was found a couple of years later on before I got my hands on a copy.

Traded for a Tamala Lewis...ouch Carl, very ouch!

I remember Stuart playing this a number of times at the Brighton Alldayers. Evertime I would rush up the stairs to ask him what it was.

The reply was 'You asked about this last time!!' Brilliant tune

Mick Smith had it 95-96, I know this for a fact because he let me put it on a tape (slightly edited) under a cover up name and title.

Memory jogged - I think i may have had a copy of that tape aswell! Lots of expensive stuff and then Bobby Patterson ' Sock Some Loving At Me' on it...is that the one? What did he have it covered up as, can you recall Pete?

Don't remember, sorry, but I think the track listing of the tape is on the back cover of Beatin Rhythm 14 or 15, I think I have one in the garage so I'll have a look later. The tape also had names like 'Cornelius Dwyer' and 'Dewey Black' on there.

Dave I found the tape track listing, not the same tape as yours as no Bobby Patterson, starts of with Celebrities on Boss, anyway it's on there covered up as Marie Knight.

Thanks for checking Pete...'Marie Knight'...of course!

My one also had Cornelius Dwyer on as well, funny enough!

The one I had defo had Bobby Petterson on it, as I thought it sounded as good as all the other biggies on it...even though it is a £15 disc!

Right here's the full info. Mick Smith got the first copy in 1995, he swapped it for L. Allen with a guy in Belgium. He covered it up as Marie Knight. The tape I did is called "Mick's Monsters" (ahem) and it's in issue 14 of Beatin' Rhythm magazine, which I used to run, dated Autumn 1995. The tape includes:

CELEBRITIES

DEWEY BLACK

KELLY MICHAELS

INFORMERS

SONATAS

CORNELIUS DWYER

STRANGERS

TEARS

ENCHANTERS

JAMES PHELPS

CLARENCE HILL

BETTY WILSON

MARIE KNIGHT COVER UP

WILLIE WILLIAMS COVER UP (ACTUALLY SOUL BROTHER AMNON ON CHESS)
