Guest Scott Simpson Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 As the tile suggests I'm looking for a copy of the above. Thanks Scott
The Milk Man Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 One was listed recently for £100 I think?
Guest Scott Simpson Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Not willing to pay that much at the moment for a copy. Thanks
Guest Jerri Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Not willing to pay that much at the moment for a copy. Thanks It's a hard record to locate
Jordirip Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 James Ingram I think. No Barry, I'm sure it's Lou Courtney. Has this shot up in price then? It was always about £15. Is Butch playing it? I love the record but the bass is non existant in the press I've got, very tinny recording. 2
waterfall_manc Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 great tune make sure you respond this time scott, still waiting on a response on Wayne Carter!!!
The Milk Man Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 How many offers have you had on the Wayne Carter Scott and you're still asking to borrow mine ?! ;)
Dave Pinch Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 surely its not gone up to £100....i sold it about 18 months ago fot £25,,,i just couldnt be doin with all that heavy breathing
Steve Plumb Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I love this! It is Lou Courtney on lead vocals and it sounds like it was made slightly earlier than his Epic LP. He even sings on one of the songs on the LP 'rain in my life' as it's fading out! I always sell it on me site Last time out i had three copies i think and put them up at £25 each and they sold within minutes! £100 sounds a bit extreme though????? Hope this helps? Cheers Steve
Guest Ivor Jones Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Hello Steve, hope all's well for you... I too love this record, always have since I first heard it in the mid 80's... Took a good while to find my initial copy as well... At one point I had a few copies some years back but I think it's reasonably hard to find And still not really known outside of hardcore collectors circles ... It would seem to me to be way underpriced @ £25 in the big picture of things, theres plenty of far more common records which are always touted for sale @ around £100 and not necessarily indemand titles either...and it sounds great alongside a lot of the more esoteric 70's spins...another one waiting to happen if you ask me ..... See you soon hopefully, Ivor
Guest Jerri Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 It was me that sold it for £100 on facebook raresoul sales. I bought a friends copy mid 90's and always thought it was a record that could do with more DJ plays.
Guest Scott Simpson Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) So, just want to say thanks to everyone for their responses about the record. I was honestly was hoping to pay a bit less than what was quoted here as I had seen copies go for less through other sites, etc. Like it.. but not that much and my pockets aren't endless. Will keep the search up and may have one sorted. @ waterfall_manc - I will reply to you now if you want, but tbh an open ended PM ain't the most inviting - just come out and say what you want. As ever P.s Steve ever get any more of those £25 records I'll have one. Edited January 25, 2013 by Scott Simpson
boba Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 is the lou courtney thing via comparing voices or via some interview / documentation? Just wondering? nya is a great sweet soul cut. I'm looking for prophecy "lady divine" on all platinum 2344 if anyone has a copy to sell
Ian Dewhirst Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I love the record but the bass is non existant in the press I've got, very tinny recording. Yep. I love the record but the recording is simply too shrill to play out and just sounds a mess when played loud. This would have been a biggie if the recording had been better........... Ian D
Guest sharmo 1 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Yep. I love the record but the recording is simply too shrill to play out and just sounds a mess when played loud. This would have been a biggie if the recording had been better........... Ian D HI Ian had the stroke of luck with Tim Ashebende with this one about twenty years ago picked up the original acetate which is as i remember on a 8 inch plate that is actually bassey !!!! regards lucky bastard (£20.00) Ha Ha.
Candiman Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) There are two releases for this (both released around the same time I think). One has -RE-2 suffix in the matrix, one doesn't. Do you know if they are both the same in playback (ie. tinny)? B side is a great slowie too (and a better balance sonically I reckon). Edited January 29 by Candiman Spelling
