Guest Granthar Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I am trying the find the title of a Bobby Womack 12 inch I bought second hand in the late 80's, I believe it was released between 84 and 87. It had a black label, had no mention of an album on the label. None of my mates had or could find a copy at the time and the track didn't appear on any of his albums that we had. I remember Robbie Vincent playing it on his Sunday Radio 1 show. Any suggestions what it could be? I have looked through all the Bobby Womack resources on the web and no mention.

Steve Plumb Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Is it that track he did with Mica Paris? Think that was 12" only?

Guest Granthar Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Used the wonders of Google and it's neither of those tracks.
Soulman Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 He did a version of "Living In A Box" which came out on a 12" (same song as recorded by the group Living In A Box). Steve

Derek Pearson Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Thinking outside the box (pun intended) it could've been a limited exclusive UK promo whoes release then got shelved hence it's inclusion not showing up via Google. Or even a limited foreign promo from Brazil or whatever.. Finally it might have even been some sort of unofficial not fully legit promo? There must be some detailed Bobby Womack discography sites out there somewhere to cross reference. Another long shot is looking for websites that have documented Robbie Vincent's radio playlists over the years. derek You could even wade through YouTube over a cup o' coffee. You could also search Discogs. Edited January 23, 2013 by Derek Pearson
Triode Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Kind of recall a Bobby Womack promo being given away at one of Richard & Deans "Parkers" sessions (recorded in Rochdale?) Think that was a 10" but like I recently said to the wife "what's 2 inches at the end of the day". Triode
phillyDaveG Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 The duet with Mica Paris was the brilliant "I wish I'd never met you" (B side of her 12" "If i luv you 2nite") He also did an excellent version of "it's a man's man's man's world" with Jeanie Tracy in the mid 9ts (though you have to find the right mix for the best version). Some CDs from that time by the great man, but can't think of any other 12"s off hand.
Roburt Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 He did a cut with a Belgium woman; Sofie (I Wanna Know What Love Is") but think that was CD single only (though probably limited availability for club DJ's as a vinyl promo). Then there's the UK only Motown 12" promo of tracks off his Beverly Glenn LP ... but that doesn't match the description of it having a black label.
Dave Harrison Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Forever Love / Colour him father on Continuum 12". Don't think mines a black label though and that' s about '94.
Scotters Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Bit of a long shot, but was it Wilton Felder ft Bobby Womack - "(No matter how high I get) I'll still be looking up"? I think that was c84/85 and black label. I picked this up in a 2nd hand shop in late 80's for next to nothing not knowing what it was but just blown away by the soul in Bobby's vocals. Also "inherit the Wind", but that was much earlier 80's I think. Cheers, Steve
