Please note - The entire list with full soundclips can be found in the Word document attached (this site only seems to allow ten soundclip links per post, so I've split it up).

If you'd like to receive my list in the future before it goes online, please drop me an email.

thanks,

George

45s (alphabetical by label) — Part 4

Sophisticated Ladies: This Ain’t Really Love (Reflection) EX £100

Awesome 1980 club tune.

Listen: https://www.concourserecords.com/musicuploads/sophisticatedladies_this.mp3

Sole Inspiration: Life (Soulsville USA) EX- £150

Dark, downtempo psych-funk burner for the heads. Obscure stuff!

Listen: https://www.concourserecords.com/musicuploads/soleinspiration_life.mp3

Lee Jenning: Just Keep On Loving Me / inst. (Star Track) M- £20

Obscure Detroit northern.

The Webb People: Bump With Me / I’m Sending Vibrations (T.C.B.) EX SOLD

Two extremely strong group sides from Dave Hamilton’s bottomless well of epic Detroit soul. Bump With Me is a rock steady funk masterpiece enveloped in a thick, narcotic atmosphere. The crossover side is embellished with effects galore and emerges from a similarly druggy fug, but has a more soulful vocal and a slightly more refined groove. Overall, it’s close to 10/10 all round.

#2: https://www.concourserecords.com/musicuploads/webbpeople_sending.mp3

Susan King: Morning (Toy) EX £40

Spooked-out minor key downtempo groove with jazz elements provides a hypnotic backing for this next day “walk of shame” tale. Looks M-, plays with a tiny bit of noise here & there (I think my copy is the same). A long time personal favourite. Small sticker on flip

Listen: https://www.concourserecords.com/musicuploads/susanking_morning.mp3

De De Turner Happening: Outside Of Memphis (Yodi) VG+ £100

Excellent and lesser-known release on the label — a tricky funk rhythm with a soulful vocal performance, has potential as a crossover spin but a beautiful record regardless.

Exciting Changes: I’ve Got Something Good For You (West Hill) VG (deep flip VG-) wol & light ringwear £50

Appealing ‘60s male group crossover spin from New York. Orange label pressing variation (which I think is way louder than the blue one).
