Pete S Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Bobby Sheen - Something New To Do' - twee-lyrical, mid-tempo, shuffling bobbins. Terrible record. 2

Linky Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 And my wifes favourite..... and I bought her copy off you! My girlfriend wants one but I keep telling her 'I've just missed out'. Can't bear thinking about paying for it...even with her money
Andreas B Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 as an addendum to my original post, I'm not sure this has much relevance on the northern seen but the song "Tossin' & Turnin'' by Bobby Lewis fills me with a rage few should be familiar with. I used to work at a small organic market where we had horrible digital radio, and the "oldies" station on there churned out that obnoxious heap seemingly on the hour every hour. one time, truthfully, I stopped mid-transaction ringing up a customer to rush upstairs and flip the station. should have seen the confused look on that poor woman's face as I rushed up the stairs to the office repeatedly saying "nope" to myself.
Guest MrC Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My girlfriend wants one but I keep telling her 'I've just missed out'. Can't bear thinking about paying for it...even with her money Got one for sale - it's the wifes!
viphitman Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) I have to say regarding soul I may have a few records I am not so fond of but even though I got some in my head which are a little overplayed, I do not have a single song I truly hate !!!! Even with other styles of music there is obviously some stuff I don't like but wouln'd say I hate it. For me listing & getting into soul especially, made me a more mellow and a better person. Fighting was quite a big part of my life and although I wasn't a twat who went around bashing up people with no reason.... being a traditional skinhead and following a football team with a clear stand agianst racism for god knows how many years now ment that fights were almost a weekly occurance and often unavoidable. But even by just sitting in a local pub, going on a bus, playing football....by carring a little bottle of hate inside ya for whatever reason ..... bang... ya get sucked into it.... If ya full of hate and anger you will always attract THE other person who is in the same state of mind of hate.... Somehow subconsciously you are looking for THE one...and trust me you will find the only one in the village of ultra violence.... sorry, I went on a bit now... anyway, there isn`t a single song I hate but a couple I am not too fond of Peace & Soul Edited March 1, 2013 by viphitman 2
Hill868 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I don't know, I think it's interesting to hear what some people love others can't stand and vice versa. Stuff like Nightwatch 'lips to your heart' , opinion doesn't even come into it, it's been scientifically proven to have 0% soul content and totally shit. Anyone else notice how many of these hated records are old, overplayed, played out oldies .... just goes to show how many venues are spinning the predictable, worn out, boring, and totally shite sounds all forward thinking soul collectors don't need to hear anymore !!
Soap Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 that bloody awfull bob sinclair thing. tribute comes to mind instantly. jewels we got togetherness takes some beating. cajun hart gotta find a way. the list could go on and on 1
Robbk Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I hate far too many to pare a list down to 3. (1) I guess "Deutschland Ãœber Alles" would be my first hated, as half my family was murdered by The Nazis. (Ironically one of my high school alma mater songs used that very tune! Should have been against a law! (2) "Talk, Talk"-The Music Machine (3) "Inna Godda Da Vida"- Iron Butterfly (?) I don't hate ANY Soul song enough to even approach the hate I have for noisy, a-tonal, non melodious, screaming "Rock Music", hard Rock, Acid Rock and commercial so-called C&W music (Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and the like), and some of the milk-soppy MOR/Pop music of the '50s. 2
Guest Chris53 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 here we go i think this topic must have been done loads of time but here goes my three queen of fools do i love you indeed i do house for sale sorry but they drive me mad make its a good job i smoke great excuse to go for one Interplay yuukk Rira and the Tiaras uuughhh And finally nil points for house for sale Thats my 3 but thats only because you set a limit could be 30
George G Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Benny Troy (already mentioned) Don Gardner - My baby likes to boogaloo Little Flint - Pain (although other versions are pretty awful, except for the Grassroots) Having heard Don Gardner played by anyone in the US who fancies themselves a 'Soul DJ' a zillion times, I can see how people get sick of 'overplayed oldies'. The other two records are just really irritating.
Guest Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Aww how could you lol Yes, over exposure is a devil. I used to like House For Sale Do I Love You Never liked The Snake arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Tongue firmly in cheek, but what a good thread : ) 1
George G Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Funny, "The Snake" was a hit in the US, not a huge hit, bigger in some cities than others. I remember hearing it on the radio back in the late 1960s and early 1970s on occasion, For me it was never anything more than a semi-forgotten oldie and a bit of childhood nostalgia. I will warn you though if you attend soul and scooter/mod nights in the US you are likely to hear it........
Guest Ollie Lailey Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) It goes without saying that "The Snake" is the biggest pile of dog droppings known to man. I still lay awake at night and wonder who ever thought it was acceptable to play this turd ANYWHERE. It's not even a good pop record. Anyway....... 1. Jackie Day - Naughty Boy (I normally keep this to myself as everyone I've told looks at me funny when I say that it's rubbish. It's starts off brilliant, then just gets irritating) 2. Tony Middleton - Paris Blues (Just really boring) 3. Ray Pollard - The Drifter (Drop me out) Edited March 28, 2013 by Ollie Lailey
Guest Nick Harrison Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Casino Royale - I Want A Girl (Key Lock) Carrell Coyle - Love / Coming On Strong (Lisa) Royal Jesters - Lady Sunshine (Bell)

Only Dreaming Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Hi Liam. Love both the Majestics and Bobby Kline. I really think it's a case of time and place and your state of mind when hearing them. Dave Edited April 9, 2013 by Only Dreaming
