Hi everyone

From reading other threads on here I understand Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart came out on Stateside three times - twice in 1966 and then again in 1969.

Can anyone tell me how to identify the three different issue copies please?

I also know the demos were different between the 1966 (white and red) and 1969 (green and white) copies - but were there any differences between the two 1966 demo releases - or was there only one 1966 demo?

Cheers

Richard

  • Don't think it came out twice on Stateside in 66, doesn't make sense. London demo, Stateside r & w demo, repromoted issue in 69 with it's green & white demo, and it was still on catalogue in

  • no release date on the 1969 g & w ..this probably means it was never deleated...just as ted said

i dont think it was ever deleted between first release and re promotion in 1969 i seem to remember buying it from a shop in between the 2 dates

One probably has the 'sold in the uk' printing on the centre and later ones leave it off

i agree with pete..only came out once on stateside in 1966 altho demo`s say `open the door of your heart`. the spelling mistake was rectified for the issue as i never seen a R & W with correct title and never seen an issue with the spelling mistake

that depends when the G & W demo came out pete.....whats the date in 69

there was always demand for it right through from release, a similar thing happened to Detroit spinners Ill always love you i ordered it from the Diskery in about 1968

just for completeness, in case anyone is interested, there's a white label stateside test press too

:hatsoff2: HI ALL As TED STATES THE DEMAND WAS HIGH. White label copies are very rare but in this case no where near the price that 1st $TATESIDE demo is worth, is it me that has seen more LONDON DEMOS than $TATESIDE RED& WHITE DEMOS? MICK SMITH has a G&W DEMO on his list I sold a copy for £5 at WIGAN :D DAVE

It's surprising how many 60s titles on EMI lables were still available in 1970. I ordered various titles from my local record shop.

1966 1st issue

later 1967/68/69 copy

copies after july 1969...will have the same typeface as the later copy but are missing the `sold in uk text` on the center

That proves that I have a later issue. That's 60p wasted the other week then :wicked: .

One of the best double siders ever IMHO.
