Steve G Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Is this the one Francis Tee was involved with?
Guest Byrney Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Is this the one Francis Tee was involved with? Not sure Steve, here's more info https://www.odeonent.co.uk/product/keep-on-burning-the-story-of-northern-soul
Steve G Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Yes it is Byrney. We do need the 80sd 90s and 00s covered properly.....one day!
Soulman Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 It's an "OK" nostalgia vid along with all the ones that have gone before. Same comments from the same people about the same things using the same footage. One or two quirky inserts from people that have not appeared in much before but still the same old same old I'm afraid. As said previously, we now need to focus on what went on after the Casino, how Stafford changed the sound of the 60's soul being played and how Modern became so much a part of the scene as we know it today and how everything has progressed..... even the Godamn clothing for Heaven's sake. In this day and age where everyone is encouraged to "get on their bike and save the planet", would it not be prudent to prevent injury by wearing trousers that would fit into bicycle clips and save material rather than wearing a skirt on each leg!!!!!!! Guest Byrney Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Well I think that covers it - Money for old rope look at a period in Northern Souls history but historically way off the mark as it deletes a big chunk of the real Northern Soul story, sums it up? Have to wonder though why so many publications, docs etc miss out the 80s, post Stafford, emergence of Modern etc. My suspicious side feels it may be that many involved in these things weren't really around for a decade or 2 so it could be A, that period doesn't matter as they weren't around and therfore this time was too inferior for inclusion to the days they were into it or B, the scene had finished when they left and only remerged when they became interested again ( so they never really left it - an ego thing). Ordered it as part of 2 disc view deal with Lovefilm but expect I won't be buying it
