Guest Dave Turner Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Take a look here mate. Only had a quick look at it but the Eugene Evans is "One Hurt" and not The Hurt. There may or may not be other errors but like I say I've only had a glance. https://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/southernsoul/message/17073
Gene-r Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Wow - didn't think "House of Broken Hearts" by Hal Hardy was released as late as 1967! Always guessed at '64 - '65.

I think that contains tracks from the earlier 1950's Hollywood before King took it over Merry Christmas not Happy https://www.discogs.c...release/4077298 Also some info to be gleaned from Red Kelly's page https://redkelly2.blo...stmas-baby.html Edited January 9, 2013 by Dave Turner
Chalky Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Hal Hardy was originally from Nashville. There was some videos of him on you tube? He settled in Knoxville. He was also in the Neptunes. https://browneyedhandsomeman.blogspot.co.uk/2006/10/night-train-with-neptunes.html?m=1 From the net...
Robbk Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I think that contains tracks from the earlier 1950's Hollywood before King took it over Merry Christmas not Happy https://www.discogs.c...release/4077298 Also some info to be gleaned from Red Kelly's page https://redkelly2.blo...stmas-baby.html Yes, the Hollywood records label was formed in Texas in 1953, from the purchase of remaining masters from John Dolphin's Recorded in Hollywood label. They also signed their own artists. It ran until the late '50s. That label was resurrected in 1965, distributed by king Records. The "Merry Christmas Baby" LP (Hollywood 501), released in 1957, has mostly early '50s songs, such as "Merry Christmas Baby" by Johnny Moore's 3 Blazers (vocal by Charles Brown), "Lonesome Christmas" by Lowell Fulson, and "Sleigh Ride" by Lloyd Glenn, and songs by Jimmy Witherspoon and Marie Scott. The 1965 LP was a re-release of the '50s mono LP. Edited January 10, 2013 by RobbK
