slimharpo Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Anyone know what it is? Slight clue it is released on a major label but I reckon most of you know anyway.

slimharpo Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Clues! She definitely had a release but not under her name and the label was Atlantic.
Simsy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Lonzine Cannon a she? This thread's weird man, I'm off. 1
slimharpo Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Lonzine Cannon a she? This thread's weird man, I'm off. Funny you should say that. When I first had the record I'm referring to I though it was a male singer until I listened to the lyrics properly and realised she was singing about a man!
Simsy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I though it was a male singer Lonzine Cannon? I'm a liddle confused over here ..
Pete S Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Why would anyone think Lonzine Cannon is a male singer????
slimharpo Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Lonzine Cannon became lead singer with C & The Shells and had Good Morning Starshine released here on the Atlantic label in 1969. However, flip it over for the incredible soul track On Your Way Home written & produced by Jerry Williams. As I say back in my unenlightened youth I thought for a short period that it was a male tenor singing until as I say until I listened to the lyrics properly.

Gene-r Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I only know "Quit While I'm Ahead" by Lonzine Cannon on Philips.
Shinehead Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 So Lonzine Wright was Lonzine Cannon ? who later sang with the Sandpebbles .
Simsy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Why would anyone think Lonzine Cannon is a male singer???? I ALWAYS thought it was a geezer! Stone me, all these years.. Listening to it now and yep, though raucous I can see it's a woman. Northern Soul, tough old game..
slimharpo Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 So Lonzine Wright was Lonzine Cannon ? who later sang with the Sandpebbles . I believe so although I THINK she was with the Sandpebbles before C & The Shells. 'Love Power' definitely sounds like her.
