Thanks for the info.

What anniversary was it?

Sadly never hear it nowadays, but it was massive at scooter rallies mid eighties.

Also seen someone on youtube saying it was played at Wigan...is that correct??

It'd have a job, Wigan had been closed for a few years before Magic Touch was even discovered

That's what i thought Pete, as i always though it was a new discovery in the 80's.

Maybe the guy on youtube just got mixed up lol!

It was one of the unreleased tapes Ady Croasdell brought back from his trip to the States in Autumn 1984.

No mate, check nsoulchris video of the track.

Some dude refering to "casino" & "chalkies" in the comments called Carpetmann!

Maybe i'm just reading it wrong?!?

The original release was the Kent Anniversary release. Horace was I think the next then other Kent. Anything other than a Kent related release is a boot.

Just seen the link on discogs which suggests Melba Moore - Magic touch was one of Ady's finds and he put it to vinyl. The dates suggest the Kent was after the Horace's label issue.

I can't imagine Ady issuing a bootleg can you? Hence the UK OVO would be Horace's release.

The anniversary one was the second anniversary 45 1986 (6th anniversary). Keb and Ady had been playing it Stafford and 100 Club and anywhere where they dj'ed for a couple of years. I thought the Horace release was towards the end of the 80's, I certainly don't remember seeing it until after the anniversary release.

It was Chalky, that came out in 1988 or even 89.

2) Magic Touch Kent LP 1986

3) Horaces 45 1987 (?)

4) Fabulus 45 2002

5) Kent 45 2003

:hatsoff2: HI ALL "THE MAGIC TOUCH" MELBA MOORE was discovered by Ady , who I believe got a dub plate made as the record was unreleased, on the same tape that had "don't cry sing along with the music" which was spun at the Torch VAVA & the first couple of Wigan casino all nighters, in 1973, Ady made the record an integral part of his sett in 85? the record was so popular he made it available on the 2nd 100 club anniversary (although it was not} my copy was given to me by a real friend 100 club DJ Mick Smith, which carried on until #17, when people were paying good money for the latest disc on the night, I have received a couple from Ady in the last few years, I think when it comes to finding new undiscovered soul Gems Ady has the MAGIC TOUCH  DAVE K

The 6th anniversary was 1985 so it must have been then.

I remember being at one 100 club anniversary around 85 or 86 and never got a record on the night, was there an anniversary where the free 45 wasn't available on the actual night or is the memory playing up. And if I am remembering correctly then can I still claim my free single?

I can remember the Chubby Checker (Jimmy Radcliffe) "You can't lose something" was late and given out at one of the Yarmouth Weekenders but that was 1990 ish.

The night I'm on about was definately the mid to later 80's. I seem to remember it being The Magic Touch as I was a bit miffed at missing out on it, then again I also remember being, how shall I say, a little worse for wear that night!

We need a bigger clue than that Dave to narrow it down. I'd be pretty pissed to be ripped of a copy of The Silhouettes. Edited by El Corol

:hatsoff2: HI ALL... Clues more clues, I don't think you need any more,

yes I was pissed of after months of waiting I was inform it had been stolen,, after 1 year with no hope off ever seeing it I was given £20 the price I had paid for the record, 2 weeks later the record turned up, not stolen at all just mislaid, when I asked for it, I was turned down as I had received payment,

yes I was a wee bit gutted, one of 10001 story's in the strange world of northern soul, DAVE K

we didn't do them for the 3rd4th & 5th and possibly the one after Melba? A couple of times they weren't ready and you had to swap your ticket for them

Didn't it have the wrong anniversary number on it, which was tippexed over?

the anniversary number has been tippexed out on mine

so what number was wrong?

My copy is also tippexed over. I was worried about that until reading this thread. It's the small number in the writing at the top/middle of the label. It's more of a dot of tippex as opposed to a long line of it.

Yes, Triangle on AMARET.

Similar but inferior to the Bobby Fuller Four version in my opinion.

Try this from 2013 by the Primaveras, not a bad cover IMO

Eh shouldn't you be answering that question :D

I told you all those years rubbing your balls red and then hitting them with a big bat would affect you long term!

Don't know about the tippex ones my copy is fine. But yes, wrong anniversary number. It reads "6T's 5th anniversary" on the label. But it was the 6th anniversary.

Thanks Benji, I don't make this stuff up!

Mine had tippex on, but I picked it off, does that devalue it I wonder?
