Talking of Bobbie Smith........................Here's one you don't see that often for sale, only ever heard it once, Ian Levine played it on Richards Searling's JazzFM program. Nice choon.

Usually have 2 lines across the centre! Ask if it's styrene? if it's vinyl it's made for walking (boot)

The "two lines" is a good indication but not all had them.

Yes Chris-the most obvious course of action to solve the query-just had a reply from Marsha, and it is original styrene. It's always helpful to get advice from collectors/dealers whose knowledge of 45s is greater than mine tho'... Thanks, Carl.

Perhaps you can ask the seller ? Crazy idea I know but it might just work...................

Why are you asking all this on a live auction? Either you're not bidding so don't care too much - or you are a bidder and have encouraged more folk like you who were also unsure to bid.

Richard

Not much point him asking when the auction's finished!

I was having a "larf" but serious too. If you had bought it and it did turn out to be a boot, there'd be no issue in getting a refund.

I'm certain the boots don't have the "yeah , yeah" at the end so seems to be slightly shorter than the original.I'd be intrested in any thought's on this regards Simon.

Blimey Richard! What's wrong with asking about the authenticity of a record, whether bidding on it, or not???

If it's styrene it's original, simple as that

Shoot me down in flames if I'm wrong but can I beg to differ. I'm sure mine came from John at Soul Bowl and I'm convinced it's vinyl (demo) and a different label design. Obviously I need to dig it out but I've always been under the impression it was original as John didn't deal in boots. Are there any telltale stamps that may indicate authenticity

Cheers :hatsoff2:

No it is on different designs, I'm just talking about the one he is on about at the start of the thread. Which is styrene only.

:hatsoff2: HI ALL Back in the 8ts I got a few stock copies from Mick Smith and that was never booted, so it's the one to get, the trouble with white label DEMOS, when booted they cause confusion, what I call the "ROSEMARY"? EFFECT, following that classic being booted the price for it halved over night! DAVE K
