Reg Scott Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 (edited) I know this is a tuff one to turn up clean (and a nice double sider) but at this price? https://www.ebay.com/...cvip=true&rt=nc Now it could be seen as a bid war price but It seems to me that this is another example of the trend toward an increasing premium for top condition collectable 45's (something that JM's auction prices seem to show?) The interesting thing for me is that this seems to challenge the standard definition of 'guide' prices and especially value differentials i.e. EX / VG++ as 80% of NM value etc. In this case that would value an EX copy at $428 wich I doubt we would see... No financial downturn for these bidders Edited January 7, 2013 by ClearVinyl
Catriona Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 My other half was watching this with the same degree of bemusement! So a record is "worth" what someone is prepared to pay for it. 1
Wiganer1 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 got mine for a ton a few years back,,,mellow is an utterly fabulous track,, 1
Kegsy Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 (edited) I know this is a tuff one to turn up clean (and a nice double sider) but at this price? I reckon its the condition thats driven the price. It extremely difficult to get a mint one. It took me years. Kegsy Edited January 7, 2013 by Kegsy
grant Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 got mine for a ton a few years back,,,mellow is an utterly fabulous track,, me too mark, but tend to spin t'other side out more these days
Gilly Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I think its fair to say Holding Hands and RT120 are among the harder ones 1
Pete S Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 It's never worth more than £150...even unplayed 2
boba Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 not just condition of that one item drove up that price but the fact that the seller had a large amount of good condition good records drove people to their auctions in general 1
45cellar Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I would expect the DEMO in that condition to have brought a similar price. Only ever seen a couple of DEMOs over the years.
davidwapples Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 last couple of copies of holding hands have been around £50 on red issue on ebay , boot is usually 12 pounds ish but some dealers chance it at £20 , holding hands probably worth a little more than the £50 but doesnt get played as much as the fantastic four or mellow so probably not as in demand with djs i have been collecting these and the hardest one i have seen on the label other than the scotts on swingers is im gonna live up to what she thinks , only about a £25 tune but doesnt appear as often as some of the other supposed rarities 2

davidwapples Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 yes but the 2 at 50 sold so it meant that there was at least 3 people willing to pay that , the one at £200 is still there 1
Carty Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 bought "youre my mellow" over the counter from derek howes record booth ,hmv market street manchester 1976, three quid!, also from there marjorie black one more hurt, £1.00
dthedrug Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 HI ALL Trying to put a price on this record in 2013 is far from easy, PETES remark about £150 tops I think was about right 18 Months ago, however as I have started to collect US 45 AGAIN! MINT RIC-TIC 120 ARE RARE, & should sell way above £200, the price for some strange reason, is there must be a huge pile of them! after all it's RIC-TIC i DON'T NO THE STORY OF WHY RIC-TIC 120 IS SO RARE,,ANYONE? I'm alright with my DEMO from LIL DAVE WELDING, But that's my good fortune?? DAVE K
Pete S Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 A few years ago I sold one on here and I hadn't realised it was a demo, the not for sale is very small, anyway when the guy got it, he then took the piss out of me for not noticing! Throw it back in my face why don't you... 2
