Dave Newman - Make Up Your Mind - Look Records

Was looking for some help. I have a copy of Dave Newman - Make up your mind on Look records.

I have checked it in Manships book and the run out is 16.20mm and it has both matrix's scratched in.

6 o'clock - 5011-L-5018

2 o'clock - ZTSB132463-1A

It states that the counterfeit has a raised platform on the label. Mine has a slight ridge.

Can anyone else tell me if this is legit or how else to tell?

I don't play boots and found this in a collection I was given.

Thanks in advance for your help

All the best

Paul Bailey

There are two boots of this so you have to be careful. The most common one has a pronounced dip before the centre hole, if you've ever seen the first boots of Idle Few, Anderson Bros, Candi Staton, you'll see it. The second one is s superb counterfeit and I think I've only seen it once. Thinner than the previous one. I'm pretty certain it's got PB in the run off

Personally I think Dave Newman is pretty scarce on an original - sometimes the company it's in will give you a clue - were the rest in the collection high quality originals?

Not always true of course, but it can be helpful.

I remember Tim Ashibende had a few blue stock copies of this, they looked superb, hard record to sell though for some reason. Dave Newman is Freddie Chavez by the way.

Apparently he's really David Nuñez. Freddie Chavez is the writer though.

Don't know - Kev Roberts (or might have been IL) interviewed Freddie Chavez, who said that he was indeed Dave Newman...

It was in a big collection that I got, 80% boots, but I have had some very nice originals out of it too...it does have a shine to the label yeah?

The matrix reads correct and the run in size is right...

It does have a pronounced dip...so maybe it is a boot??

Bleeding fraudsters eh! :)

Sorry it's taken me so long Pete, forgot about it.

Some numpty run a marker pen around it for some reason, probably my cousins when they were little.

Have a look see what you think?

Cheers

Paul
