You have to go to 'upload image' (see bottom right of reply box to the right of 'fast reply').

Then (see bottom left of reply box) select 'choose file' - find the file you want - then click 'attach file'.

Cheers

From an article I did for Record Collector mamazgine, comments by John Anderson, not sure about RED 2 though

RED 1 BRIMSTONE INGRAM:

“What Happened To The Songs”

*

Acouple of singles were issued with a red label and a different prefix, in an attempt to promote modern soul product.

The red label was just to make Grapevine more contemporary, by splitting it in two for different types of music. All those Funkadelic guys played the backing on this; they were session players as well. They looked a bit wild because they dressed like they did on stage colourfully. But it was a kinda pop record, really. Brimstone Ingram was the Detroit Emeralds bandleader.

RED 3 LEO’S SUNSHIPP:

“Give Me The Sunshine”

*

We had a red label album by Leo’s Sunshipp ready to put out. It was the cult import LP of the time — we had that, plus beefed up re-recorded versions and new songs, taped for a new album. But the tape got lost for posterity! We got this from YONS Records in Atlanta. Kenny Stover was in the band, from some 70s Motown group.

Was pushed a box of 25 x 12" singles of the Brimstone Ingram on the way out of the bowl at trade cost. Once home opened up to find all the sleeve's had the seventies RCA Disco 12" outers and this red limited labelled grapevine record was very poor.

Did anyone actually buy this who had serious connections to the northern soul establishment, other than a love for the label.

Also Grapevine did a Fred Perry clothing style 3 button polo top, available also in yellow and red - pre 1978 and onwards - anyone recall.

The yellow label 45's were NS, the red were MS .....

I bought a copy of all the MS 45's (red label) and loved em all.

Left quite a few of the yellow Grapevines (even when I could get em for 10p or 25p) coz I wasn't into Wigan stompers or Casino instros.

I never liked Brimstone ingram (RED 1) back them and played it the other week and still did not like it one bit!

Leo's Sunshipp (RED 3) however is a different kettle of fish - two wonderful sides (imho)

Does anyone know what RED 2 should have been? Or is there a RED 2 release knocking about somewhere?

Above is a topic I posted with a magazine attached about Grapevine. Think the PDF even has the prices I paid around approx 87/88/89.

Very interesting Chalky.

So the REDS weren't so much "modern soul", as Grapevine's attempt at contemporary soul of the time. You'll see that the Grapevine 2000 label did exactly the same thing with a "red" series earlier this century. They also came out while the label was still in existance 79 /80. Didn't the last yellows come out in 81?

Brinstone Ingram - was a Fee production (John had previously produced Leo Lyons "Set me up baby" for the label and knew Woody Wilson who owned it etc.) An article I wrote here: https://www.toodarnso.../Fee Part 2.pdf

RED 3 was issued in response to demand for import copies of Leo's Sunshipp from the London crowd.

RED 2 - John did tell me once what it was planned to be, but it never got issued as Steve P says.

Steve

This would appear the correct theory, as Carol Anderson and Flame "N" King And The Bold Ones, were examples of modern soul tunes pressed on the yellow label. For what my little bit of input is worth.
