Just been reading a thread from soulful-Detroit circa 2007,where Sharon talks in depth about her close friendship with Tony Hester. It would be great if any one is in touch with her,for her to come on soul source and have a chat.i wonder if she is aware of how popular Gota find another guy,has become. She is / was on the Detroit forum and a friend of mine told her that GTFAG was very well thought of over here. He told her that I would be playing it that night and she sent a message saying she wished she could be with us to hear it played! That was a few years ago now though so not sure if she is still active on there or not

Once you've played that just walk away, there's nothing left to say. One of my favourite records of all-time

It actually went something like "step away from the record box love, there's nothing more you can do there"

Yep mighty fine tune!

That would be great thanks,I have GTFAG and also the Gambrells You better move.As you are aware they are on the same label des ign,Karen and Carla. These are not distributed by Atco as are most of the other Karen and Carla recordings,I think both recordings were done at the same time and I wonder if the Gambrells were involved with GTFAG. GTFAG is not dissimilar to Gambrells Find A Love.

Not forgetting her sublime 70 's 45 : Get Out Of My Life for Columbia - she informed me it had spins on Radio 2 as a new release circa 1973....

Brilliant soulful tune as is the fantastic "Maybe You'll Be Back"

She hasn't been posting on Soulful Detroit Forum for quite a while. But, if she's not to busy, it would be nice for her to visit here and talk about her career in the music industry. Her posts on SDF were very inlightening, providing first hand glimpses into what was really going on in the '60s.

Love the backing track to GTFAG...though overall it always feels me wanting more from it after such a thunderous intro

I also have a problem with the production on Sharon's vocal...has it been double-tracked or are the backing singers tight-harmonizing with her in places, as the effect then created becomes a tad too Pop sounding (imo). Then again, maybe that was what they were trying to achieve in order to potentially gain a hit...terrible I know! :D

Still, a fabulous tune regardless of me having my Mr.Fussy head on over it!

Hi dave, how are you?its Chris walker from Doncaster.i started this thread going,I think it is the Gambrells doing the backing on GTFAG,as I said earlier both this recording and you better move are on Karen and Carla that were not Atco distributed. Chris

Hi Chris...fab festive season greetings to you!

I try real hard to like the production on Sharon's vocal, but it just doesn't quite do her justice imo.

(Off on tangent - here are another couple of non-Atco Carla/Karen for you!)

Good to hear from you dave, like yourself it's the backing rather than the vocals that do it for me on GTFAG.How ever I wouldn't be with out it. All the best for the New Year. Chris

maybe sharon mcmahon GTFAG and the gambrells YBM were just custom 45`s never given full releases in the spring of 1966.. both 45s share catalogue numbers with other 45`s. karen 1525 also belongs to the capitols, zig zagging and the gambrells carla 2527 is also deon jackson`s love takes a long time growing,,.also note the have t4km prefixes meaning they were east coast pressings and done at the same time as there on t4km 4622/4623 and gambrells 4624/4625...ive not seen promo`s for these two 45`s either..is it possible the releases..were withdrawn due to clashing catalogue numbers ??..both very rare 45`s

Hi Dave looks like you've been doing your home work.I think you might be on to something there. In the same way the Appreciations it's better to cry and the Four Sonics easier said than done share the same number Sport 111 Chris.
