Popular Post Philt Posted December 25, 2012 Author Popular Post Posted December 25, 2012 We try really hard to get it right so cheers JB n Pete. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thankfully, we always get a really good crowd in but if everyone who says they're gonna get along to Grumpy ever does we'll need a bigger boat! Probably won't happen these days but I do still dream of a good-sized chunk of 'us' getting it all together just once in a while, bit like it used to be; how awesome would that be. Here's hoping ... ... in the meantime we'll just keep doing what we're doing for as long as people want it. Anyway, come on down in April, be great to see you. It'll be more of the same, guaranteed, no compromises; plus different guests who all fit and add to the night. (I know I help put it on but if I came across somewhere where those records were being played one after another I'd bloody go, why wouldn't ya? ) atb Phil 4

Philt Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Quality, all night every night; that's the idea. No egos, not about djs, promoters, money or any of that old b*llocks; just trying to do it right musically so it flows and doesn't dip in quality or consistency. Thanks for the really encouraging comments, much appreciated. 3

Iancsloft Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Like Phil says its not about the Dj,s or egos ect its about the music and having a really good night in great company. No matter who Phil , Joan & Co have on has guest DJ,s on the nite one things for sure they will play to keep the soulies happy with their own brand of rare soul music , i cant wait until 20th April when the Grumpy crew are joined by two of my favourite DJ,s Carl Fortnum who i have the upmost respect has a top bloke and brilliant DJ and who always gets me dancin and Paul Shirley who has amassed a brilliant collection of rare northern dancable soul and really knows how to put a great selection of tunes together to get soulies of their arses and up on the dancefloor.. It will be another beltin nite of Soul Music roll on 20th April

Pete S Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Can anyone tell me what I should ask for one of these records above, The Barons - I've Got A Feeling - Etah?
Philt Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 I'd say 80-100 Pete, probably closer to the latter Atb Phil
Chalky Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Last Barons I saw was £150 I think, don't see it too often when compared with other more common records that command the same sort of price.
Chalky Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Tough one I guess Phil, don't see too often, no real demand, just me and you playing it I think
Premium Stuff Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I didn't realise how good this record is - such a fresh sound in a traditional Northern mould if you get my drift Thanks for posting Phil which prompted me to look out the YouTube. Fabulous record Cheers Richard 1
