Soulsider Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I'm never ceased to be amazed on what people will bid on. Introduction missing and cracked. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Margaret-Little-northern-soul-45-on-Genebro-Love-Finds-A-Way-CRACKED-listen-/150967913455?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2326638bef
Dave Rimmer Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I'd have it for $10, but wouldn't bid more than that for what is essentially a useless piece of plastic. 2
Chalky Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Somebody will buy and DJ with it no doubt.......
Amsterdam Russ Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Perhaps the bidder has the missing piece at home! 3
boba Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Could have done it before with much difficulty, but this wouldn't be too hard to fix if my friend lets me use his 3d printer and he did the CAD stuff. Obviously it wouldn't play music over that spot but you could actually play the intro and it would be like running over a heat damaged part of the record or something similar. 1

Would it be Original Vinyl still?
Matt Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Remember earlier in the year a copy of Ray Agee 'I'm losing again' going for over £500 with a bite out of it and this didn't play for the first 10 rotations! whatever makes people happy!
Popular Post Jumpinjoan Posted December 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2012 Don't fix it ffs. The fewer copies of this around the better  10
Steve L Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 80% of it still plays what more do you want?
Guest gordon russell Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 you,d have to fix it with a piece of 60's vinyl....not styrene mind!! vinyl......gotta agree with joan though.....it,s nasty!!
Premium Stuff Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Imagine when Brad found that one ... heart racing as he recognised the label - the overwhelming excitement of finding a mega rarity ... only to be followed by the devastating crash of disappointment when he found there was a chunk missing out of the vinyl Cheers Richard 1

NEV Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Apparently there is a solution you can buy now that has the capability to regenerate and restore old vinyl .. Its based on the "Mouse's ear regeneration theory " You place the record in the soloution for a period of time and the solution miraculously starts to bond with the vinyl and fills in the gap ! Only problem is it takes time and looking at that chunk missing ,it will probs take about 10 yrs ... Which gives the rest of us enough time and respite from having to ever hear it played out As the old saying goes ... "Love find's a way "
Popular Post Modernsoulsucks Posted December 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2012 "And the next one on the decks needs no introduction....." Which is just as well really. Bin it. ROD 10

Mrtag Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Don't fix it ffs. The fewer copies of this around the better Glad you like it love I'll take that out of your Christmas stocking and stick another Orange in instead!!
Steve G Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Shute! The intro is the best part of the whole darn thing! She sure as heck can't sing......If they had X Factor back then she'd be one of those gals on the warm up audition show for sure.... Edited December 20, 2012 by Steve G
Popular Post Pete S Posted December 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2012 I'd be embarrassed to own the record with a chunk out of it but as for the actual track, surprised at the dislike for it, just sounds like a belting 60's Popcorn Wylie special to me, and her voice isn't that bad... 5
Benji Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 her voice isn't that bad... Pete, you obviously haven't heard it played at a dance. Her voice is that awful your head explodes if you hear either side twice within 30 minutes. backing is great tho. 1
Jumpinjoan Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Glad you like it love I'll take that out of your Christmas stocking and stick another Orange in instead!! I'd say it's pants but it's not even that good
Simsy Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I have heard it played out by Mick & Sam and I'd have to say it's brilliant.
Premium Stuff Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 One of those records that divides opinion. I think a record that people love to say they hate I quite like it - but I think the tune is a bit obvious, a bit clichéd. Cheers Richard
KevH Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) I'd say it's pants but it's not even that good I thought this was a manufactured tune when i first heard it.On one of the recordings from a while back,on the intro,if you turned it up really loud, there's a dj type "Oh Baby" can be heard. Anyway, its one that grew on me,and i think the frailty in her voice adds to the production. After all there loads of NS tunes where the singer can't "sing".........7/10. Premium Stuff Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Cilla Says... Cilla Black is a woman with more catch phrases than Tommy Cooper. Not only are her words memorable but her dulcet tones (?), 'interesting' pronunciation and addition of letters invisible to the normal eye make her one of Britain's best known voices. Cilla's Top Five Catchphrases: "And here’s our Graham with a quick reminder.""Surprise, surprise it's Cilla here.""What’s your name and where d’ya come from?""Lorra lorra laughs""Do I need to buy a new hat?" Pete S Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 DOH!.......typical pete smith haven't got a barry st john knocking about by chance have you mate? Fraid not mate. I know of about 5 versions of that song including Cilla's, and only Barry St John's version is uptempo, the others are all midtempo. Weird.
Agentsmith Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 see how we've managed to navigate away from the subject topic?
NEV Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Cilla had a big singing career unlike Margaret Little " anyone who had a heart " is memorable but ffs come on " Alfie " was feckin mind blowing ! https://www.whosdatedwho.com/tpx_51453/cilla-black/songs 1

Prophonics 2029 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I'm just so fooking pleased window cilla never worked with popcorn tho.
Popular Post Chalky Posted December 20, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2012 People can knock it all they like but it rams every dance floor everywhere. It's not soulful, the lyrics might not be great, her voice might not be great but it is a great northern dancer. 7
Premium Stuff Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 $610 now Unreal - the record is unplayable in any meaningful sense - whoever pays a shed-load of money for it and then plays it out is surely going to get the mickey taken out of them? Cheers Richard
Guest Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 A dreadful song in a dreadful condition, personally I think the skips the best place for it. Chris
Des Crombie Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Anyone bidding on this either hasn't clocked the edge chip or needs their head examined.
Premium Stuff Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Anyone bidding on this either hasn't clocked the edge chip or needs their head examined. Option 1) Hasn't clocked the edge chip = No Option 2) Needs their head examined = Yes
Russoul1 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 could be the case that some dj will play the boot, then when someone comes up to the decks to check it out, the said dj will pull the original copy out of his 1000 x 45 record coffin to show off his prized possession still in its cardboard sleeve( and off course he will explain that hes had his copy for years before it went big and paid 0.99cents) then the next thing you know his cred goes from 1 to 10 lol unless off course you think the record is crap?? actually sounds quite a good plan, must put a bid in....lol happy soulin russ 3
