Adorables - Daddy Please - Unreleased Motown Version?

Hi everyone

Am I right in thinking that the Adorables - Daddy Please (Golden World) was a version of an unreleased Motown track - maybe by the Marvelettes or Velvelettes called something like "Let My Boyfriend Stay"?

I have never been that into Motown but have a few old tapes on unreleased stuff (and some more recent CDs) and I think I remember something from an old tape.

What a fabulous track!!

It was a Jobete Music song, originally recorded by The Velvelettes in late 1963, or possibly very early 1964, called "Mama Please". At least that was the title on The Velvelettes' master tape, and on their reference acetate, and also on the Jobete Music publishing rights reference acetate. To me, it's one of The Velvelettes best recordings. I have no idea why it wasn't released as the "A" side of a Velvelettes' 45, even before "Needle In a Haystack". We had that slated for the 2nd "From The Vaults" album.

Always great to hear "new on the ear stuff" and whilst I actually have the Adorables 45, am ashamed to say that it hasn't recieved the airtime that it warrants (particularly from a personal perspective), and also look forward to hearing the Jobette unreleased track in due course

"Mama Please" - that explains why I couldn't find anything on "Let my Boyfriend Stay".
