over a month ago i sold two albums on ebay to two french buyers, both buyers have claimed there money back through paypal stating that they have not recieved them, have i been the victim of two dodgy buyers or is the french postal system crap, i've noticed that quite a few sellers on ebay will not post to france

i've emailed both buyers several times to ask if they have recieved the albums but both have not replied

the buyers were "gabinsoul" and "discolibris2012"

There's nothing wrong with the french postal service.......

Posted

I've sent records to Jed (DELORENZO, the poster above) on numerous occasions and have never had a problem

He's told me in the past that the French postal service is far more professional than the one we have over here

I'm afraid you're right Trev, especially if they didn't reply to your messages.

As said Delorenzo our postal system is very reliable. Though I'm living in a tiny village and perhaps the situation in the big towns is different ? I know for sure that a lot of DVD's are stolen in Paris.

But I'm afraid some French buyers are not that fair fooling ebay sellers, that leading to more and more sellers refuse to ship to France. Too bad for the honest ones ! . :(

well unfortunatly i wont be posting to france ever again

the two buyers are ESTELLE VILLARD - gabinsoul and KARIM BELKEDAH - discolibris2012 , the records were posted a week apart, if they had been posted at the same time it could be quite feasable that they had been lost in the postal system

I can understandTrev,I'll do the same.

It's also possible that they live in a big town where there might be "problems". But they didn't reply to your messages and that doesn't sound good to me.

:g:i am of the same opinion here,

i sent /sold 2 quite rare boogie 12" tunes to France different buyers ,both claimed money back stating not recieved etc,i just had to swallow it.

next up i sold a 12" to France tracked it signed for etc ,oh he/she got the record, but claimed it was trashed(the record was sill sealed, never played been out of sleeve) demanded his/her money back,so i said ok send the record back and ill refund full postage costs both ways plus refund on record...........his reply was it was f***ed so he put in the bin.........total lie in my opinion,

He still won through a dispute,my scan on the listing showed it still sealed etc.........but still got his / her money.

now i refuse to send anything to France, just because i feel totaly shafted,i know not allFrench collectors are like this but it willnever happen again.

They never liked us anyway,

Yes, some French buyers are very honest without any cheating. However, lots of ebay seller got an experience of the claims and they are no longer ship the records to France and Italy.

I, as an ebay seller, do ship the records to France and Italy because some of them are very honest and good buyers. I cannot ignore such good buyers in France and Italy. So, I am stating on my auction for the French and Italy buyers that no shipping to them who have less than 25 positive feedback without paying EMS which can be an evidence to let the PayPal knows that I really shipped the records to them, otherwise, they can claim a full refund to the PayPal. I learned this from my previous transactions with them who claimed a full refund to the PayPal who requested me an evidence that I really shipped. After I was cheated, I recorded their ID but they soon left the ebay but they can come back to the ebay with another ID and do the same against the other sellers.

I may be wrong but think the "lost parcel syndrome" is for some boogie records (80's funk, etc...) but not for straight Soul or Rock. Is it the case ?

We'll NEVER forget Joan Of Arc !!! :D

the phenomenon is mainly for boogie records and the scammers are mostly younger, early 20s collectors just knocking up bids or screwing around. the problem is that there are obviously legitimate boogie buyers in those countries and the scammers do it frequently and ruin the reputation of the countries for everyone.

Not going to sell or buy anything from that collector!

Can you not trace the record, if it was registered he should have had to sign for it?

That's the problem I didnt registered the record, he didnt ask or pay either...

I cant prove the record was send....But the way he did everything makes me thing he's got the record and my money...

I didnt know since this thing happend, that the seller has only 10 days to resolve the paypal claim...after that, the buyer recieves the full payment back...the buyer has 45 days to claim the money after he made the payment...so easy to make fraudulent purchases...

You say it was someone on here?

Best thing to do is constantly keep an eye open for your record turning up for sale I guess.

I think the motto is - if you aren't certain, always insure, even if it's out of your own pocket.

and have been in touch with rod the mod of sales ?

Insured mail overseas is a must if you can't afford to soak up the loss .. international signed for .

It's all too easy for someone to say they havent recieved it and you have no proof otherwise .

Not to mention ,the facility provides insurance upto £500 depending on which option you take .

Add the fee to your sale ,its as simple as that !

I sent a record to Portugal ,but kinda knew the guy it was going to ,but he was'nt in to sign for it and then contacted me to say he had'nt yet recieved it ?

I did some checking and found through the tracking number that it was an attempt had been made to post it in Germany

Turns out that Portugal use a courier service and if it does'nt get delivered ,it goes through Germany to be re-sent to sender .

After waiting a week or so and it not coming back , i phoned the P/O who took all my details and also the tracking number and hey presto another week later ....

It arrived back at mine ,in a plastic bag ,the parcel had been torn open ,leaving a £500 record hanging out ,but still in perfect condition .

I also noticed that whilst in Germany ,the clowns in charge had stuck a load of big stickers all over the back of the package ,thus totally covering my return address .

The fact is ,if i had'nt phoned up and more importantly , did'nt have the tracking number ,it would never have come back to me .

Sh*t happens ,so be warned .. tracking number and signed for ...for peace of mind !
